Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a Schedule A Miniratna central public sector enterprise and subsidiary of ONGC, has released Advertisement No. MRPL/PFTE/2026/01 for Fire Officer engagement under PFTE. This is a fixed term role for 3 years, extendable by another 2 years, so experienced fire safety professionals can work in a major oil and gas PSU environment. The post is meant for Indian nationals with refinery, oil and gas, petrochemical or fertilizer industry fire safety experience. The role is focused on refinery fire safety, emergency response and employee training, not procurement or financial approvals.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Degree: You need a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Fire or Fire and Safety.
• Marks: You must have at least 60% aggregate marks from a recognised Indian university or approved institution.
• Recognition: The qualification must be from a UGC recognised university, deemed university, AICTE approved autonomous institution, statutory council or Board of Technical Education, as applicable.

Experience

• Minimum experience: You need 5 years of post-qualification work experience.
• Relevant field: The experience must be in Fire or Fire and Safety in the Oil and Gas, Petrochemical or Fertilizer industry.
• Not counted: Training, academic teaching or research experience, freelance work and entrepreneurial experience are not counted for this post.

Age Limit

• UR candidates: Maximum age is 50 years.
• OBC (NCL) candidates: Maximum age is 53 years.
• Age cut-off date: Age will be checked as on 16 July 2026.
• PwBD relaxation: PwBD candidates with minimum 40% disability get 5 years relaxation for posts identified suitable for PwBD.
• Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation is available as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• Annual consolidated pay: Rs. 13 lakh per year for candidates with relevant experience above 5 years and up to 6 years.
• Higher annual pay: Rs. 14 lakh per year if the relevant experience is more than 6 years.
• Monthly equivalent: This works out to about Rs. 1,08,333 to Rs. 1,16,667 per month.
• Benefits: Provident Fund as per EPFO wage ceiling, gratuity after more than 1 year, medical facility, leave provision, telephone reimbursement and other PFTE policy benefits.
• Insurance support: The notification mentions ex-gratia compensation for death and additional accident-related compensation as per policy.

Selection Process

The main MRPL selection route is Personal Interview. MRPL may use extra screening only if the number of applications is high.

1. Application Screening: MRPL will check qualification, experience, category and uploaded documents.
2. Shortlisting: Normally, candidates may be called for interview in a 1:10 post-to-candidate ratio.
3. Written Screening Test, if required: MRPL can hold a screening test only to reduce the number of candidates. It will not carry final merit weightage.
4. Personal Interview: Final merit will be based on performance in the interview. The qualifying mark in PI is 50%.
5. Document Verification and Medical Fitness: Original documents and MRPL medical fitness standards will be checked before engagement.
