Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Maharatna Schedule A CPSE under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has released Advertisement No. 62/2026 for the post of Director (Refineries). The post became vacant on 09 April 2026, and the job description was issued on 02 June 2026. This is a senior leadership post where the selected person becomes a member of the BPCL Board and reports to the Chairman and Managing Director.
BPCL works in the refining and marketing of petroleum products and had 8,984 regular employees as on 30 April 2026. The Government of India holds 52.98% shareholding in the company. The Director (Refineries) role is meant for experienced refinery professionals who can manage technical operations at the highest level.

Educational Qualification
- Essential Qualification: You need to be an Engineering Graduate from a recognised university or institute.
- Preferred Engineering Branches: Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering will be preferred.
- Added Advantage: An MBA or PGDM will give you an additional advantage.
Experience Requirement
- Refining Experience: You need at least 5 years of experience during the last 10 years in the petroleum refining sector.
- Organisation Size: Your experience should be from a large organisation of repute.
- Desirable Experience: Experience in the petrochemical industry will be an added advantage.
Employment Status
- Current Employment: You must be working in a regular capacity on the date of application and on the date of interview.
- Eligible Organisations: CPSEs, Central Government Group A services, Armed Forces, All India Services, Public Sector Banks, Financial Institutions, Autonomous Bodies, eligible State PSEs, large private companies, joint ventures, and federations can apply if they meet the prescribed level and turnover conditions.
- Central Government Officers: Officers from Central Government, Armed Forces, All India Services, Public Sector Banks, Financial Institutions, and Autonomous Bodies will be considered only on immediate absorption basis.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: You must be at least 45 years old as on the date of vacancy, 09 April 2026.
- Superannuation Age: The age of superannuation is 60 years.
- Internal Candidates: You need at least 2 years of residual service as on the date of vacancy.
- Other Candidates: You need at least 3 years of residual service as on the date of vacancy.
Salary
- Pay scale: Rs. 1,80,000 to Rs. 3,40,000 per month under IDA Schedule A.
- You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Department of Public Enterprises and BPCL rules.
- The appointment is for 5 years from the date of joining, or up to superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)

- Vigilance Clearance: The forwarding authority must send only cases that are clear from vigilance angle and attach the prescribed vigilance profile.
