About This Job
Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has released notification for 17 Assistant Professor (Law) posts. Candidates with PG in Law (55% marks) and NET/SLET/SET can apply online. Last date to apply is 26 March 2026. Exam date is 12 July 2026. This is a permanent, gazetted post under the Higher Education Department.
Why This Job Stands Out
Earn up to Rs. 1,82,400 per month as an Assistant Professor in Madhya Pradesh government law colleges. MPPSC is hiring 17 Assistant Professors (Law) under the Higher Education Department -- a permanent, gazetted Second Class post with Academic Level 10 pay and all state government allowances. If you hold a PG in Law with NET/SET qualification, this is your chance to start a teaching career in one of India's largest states.
Key Highlights
- Permanent gazetted post -- Academic Level 10 under 7th CPC
- Only MP State SET is valid -- SET/SLET from other states not accepted
- PhD holders may be exempt from NET/SLET/SET requirement
- 5 out of 17 posts reserved for MP government college guest faculty (Atithi Vidwan)
- Non-MP candidates can apply only for unreserved (UR) posts
- 2-year probation period after appointment
Selection Process
Selection is based on a two-paper OMR-based written exam (offline, MCQ format) followed by an interview. The written exam carries 800 marks total -- Paper 1 is General Knowledge (200 marks) and Paper 2 is Law (600 marks). Each correct answer gets 4 marks, and there is negative marking for wrong answers. Top scorers (3 times the number of vacancies) are called for the interview, which carries 100 marks. Your final merit is based on combined written exam and interview marks out of 900.
Preparation Tips for MPPSC Assistant Professor Law Exam
- Download the official syllabus from mppsc.mp.gov.in -- it is available separately under the Syllabus section
- Paper 2 (Law) carries 600 out of 900 total marks -- give it the most study time
- You get 3 hours for 150 Law questions -- that is about 72 seconds per question, so practice speed
- Paper 1 (GK) has 50 questions in 1 hour -- focus on Indian polity, history, geography, and current affairs from the last 6 months
- Negative marking applies, so avoid random guessing -- skip questions you are unsure about
- Take at least 5-10 mock tests to build speed and get comfortable with the OMR sheet format
Documents You'll Need
Key documents to keep ready:
- NET/SLET/SET qualifying certificate (only MP State SET accepted)
