The role is linked to research on state-of-the-art deep learning weather models and how well they represent atmospheric physics. This is a strong fit for early-career researchers with a quantitative Ph.D. and experience in Python, meteorological datasets, numerical weather models, global circulation models, or AI weather models.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Meteorology, or any other relevant quantitative field.
• Thesis Submitted: Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis can also apply.
• Preferred Python Skills: Experience with Python data analysis libraries such as PyTorch and scikit-learn is preferred.
• Preferred Domain Skills: Experience handling meteorological datasets will be useful.
• Preferred Research Background: Prior work on meteorological processes in numerical weather models, global circulation models, or AI weather models will help your application.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: Not more than 35 years as on the last date of application.
• Age Relaxation: Relaxation may be considered for applicants with higher educational qualifications or experience, with approval of the competent authority.

Salary

• The selected candidate will get consolidated pay of Rs. 60,000 per month.
• The appointment is initially for 1 year and may be extended based on satisfactory performance.
• The post is purely temporary and contractual; it does not give a claim for regular appointment or absorption in IISER Pune.
