Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB), Bhopal has released Advertisement No. 590/2026 dated 06 April 2026 for filling 14 posts of Assistant Engineer (Environment) through direct recruitment. MPPCB is a statutory body constituted under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and is responsible for enforcing environmental laws across Madhya Pradesh. Selection will be based on a Computer Based Test (CBT) and Interview, with no GATE requirement this time. Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You need a B.E./B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university, plus a Post Graduate degree (M.E./M.Tech) in Environmental Engineering from a recognized university.
- Domicile: Reserved category posts are only for Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates. Candidates from outside MP can apply only under the Unreserved (Open) category.
- Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.
- Qualification Deadline: You must have the required qualifications on or before the last date of application (30 April 2026). Qualifications acquired after this date will not be accepted.
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum age: 40 years (as on 01 January 2026)
- Age Relaxation: Up to 45 years for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of MP domicile, women candidates, government employees, and PwD candidates
- Age will be calculated based on your 10th (High School) marksheet date of birth
Salary
- Pay Level 12 of the MP Government pay matrix: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month
- Grade Pay: Rs. 5,400
- During the 2-year probation period, you will get the minimum pay as per state government rules
- After successful completion of probation, you will get the full Level 12 pay with DA, HRA, and other allowances as per MP Government rules

Selection Process
Selection will be done in 3 stages with a total of 100 marks:
- Computer Based Test (CBT): 80% weightage (80 marks). MCQ-based online exam covering Environmental Engineering subjects, environmental laws, pollution control technology, GK & current affairs (MP focus), and computer basics.
- Interview: 20% weightage (20 marks). Conducted by a 3-member panel formed by MPPCB Chairman.
- Document Verification: Based on merit, candidates will be called for verification of original documents.
Note: MP Online will conduct the CBT and shortlist 3x the number of vacancies per category for interview. CBT scores will not be disclosed; only the Board can request marks in writing.

Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce environmental protection laws including Water Act, Air Act, and Environment Protection Act across Madhya Pradesh
- Inspect industries and factories for compliance with pollution control norms and emission standards
- Collect and analyze environmental samples of air, water, soil, and noise for pollution assessment
- Prepare technical reports on environmental impact assessments and pollution control measures
- Assist in designing and evaluating water treatment and waste management systems
- Handle consent applications from industries for establishment and operation under environmental laws
- Work on solid waste, hazardous waste, and biomedical waste management projects
- Coordinate with state and central government agencies on environmental monitoring and compliance activities

Exam Pattern
The Computer Based Test (CBT) will carry 80 marks (80% weightage). Questions will be Multiple Choice (MCQ) type covering the following subjects:

- Pollution Control Technology: Water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution sources and control techniques, solid and hazardous waste management
- General Knowledge & Current Affairs: With special focus on Madhya Pradesh
- Computer Basics & IT: Basic computer knowledge, Information Technology, and logical reasoning
Interview: 20 marks (20% weightage). Conducted by a 3-member interview committee formed by the Chairman, MPPCB.
Final Merit: CBT Marks (80) + Interview Marks (20) = Total 100 Marks
In case of a tie, the older candidate will be selected. If age is also equal, the candidate with higher marks in High School exam gets preference.
