MPESB Naib Tehsildar Recruitment 2026: Overview

Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) is conducting a departmental recruitment for Naib Tehsildar posts in the state Revenue Department. This drive brings together current and backlog openings through a limited competitive examination. The recruitment is departmental, with separate allocations for the clerical and Patwari/Revenue Inspector cadres across the specified revenue establishments.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Departmental setting: The covered establishments include the Revenue Board, Commissioner Land Records, Principal Revenue Commissioner, Divisional Commissioners and Collectors. Offices of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) and Tehsil offices under the Collector establishment are also included.
  • Separate cadre allocations: Clerical employees and Patwari/Revenue Inspector employees compete within their respective allocations. Current and backlog openings have separate post codes, so your cadre and the applicable allocation matter when choosing a post option.
  • Backlog arrangements: The recruitment includes reserved posts carried forward from earlier cycles. These remain part of the same departmental drive, alongside the current openings; the applicable category and post code determine which allocation you can be considered against.
  • Women’s reservation: A horizontal reservation of 35% applies within categories, with allocation by segment and department. Unfilled women’s-quota posts go to men in the same category instead of being carried forward.
  • Disability reservation: The current clerical-cadre allocation includes a locomotor-disability reservation within the wider disability policy. This is a horizontal provision within that allocation, rather than a separate recruitment exercise.
  • Probation and training: Appointment carries a two-year probation period and the prescribed training. Consider these service conditions alongside your current departmental position when deciding whether to apply.
  • Domicile: A domicile certificate is not required for this departmental examination. The recruitment is tied to service in the specified revenue establishments.
  • Exam-centre allocation: You can rank Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Ujjain as preferred cities. Allotment depends on availability, and another city may be assigned where needed; a preference does not guarantee that location.
  • Centre changes: The assigned examination centre is not open to change requests. Plan travel around the location ultimately allotted to you, rather than treating your first preference as confirmed.
  • Result review: There is no provision for rechecking or re-evaluation after the result is declared. Keep this condition in mind when reviewing the examination rules.
  • Application limits: Send only one application and use the applicable post preferences where available. A correction facility is provided, but changes are subject to the relevant correction rules and charge.
  • Exam-room restrictions: Electronic devices, calculators and smartwatches are prohibited inside the examination hall. Follow the examination instructions when making your arrangements for the test.

Responsibilities

  • Handle revenue administration work within the assigned tehsil.
  • Review land and revenue records for cases within the post’s authority.
  • Coordinate with Patwaris, Revenue Inspectors and clerical staff.
  • Support revenue collection and follow up on pending matters.
  • Prepare case records, official reports and correspondence.
  • Address public revenue-related requests under the applicable rules.
