Madhusudan Law University (MLU), Cuttack — a State University established under The Odisha Universities Act, 1989 — has released a detailed advertisement for filling up 12 regular Associate Professor posts in Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, International Law, Business Law, Family Law and Human Rights Law. Selection is interview-based with no written examination. Candidates with strong academic records, Ph.D in the relevant discipline and a UGC research score of 75 or above can apply through the Odisha HIMS portal.

Total: 12 posts. (W) indicates posts reserved for women candidates. Reservation is as per Government of Odisha norms.

Who Can Apply?

• Ph.D Degree: A Ph.D degree is mandatory in the concerned, allied or relevant discipline. You must have a good academic record.
• Master's Degree: A Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the relevant subject. 5% relaxation for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
• Experience: A minimum of 8 years of teaching and/or research experience in an academic/research position equivalent to Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/Industry.
• Publications: Minimum 7 publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
• Research Score: Total research score of at least 75 as per Appendix II, Table 2 of UGC Regulation, 2018.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 60 years (present superannuation age as per Govt. of Odisha norms).
• Candidates above 60 years will not be eligible to apply.

Salary

• Selected Associate Professors will get a salary in Pay Level 13A (Rs. 1,31,400 to Rs. 2,17,100 per month) in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
• The scale of pay and other service conditions will be based on the UGC Scale of Pay as decided by the State Government from time to time.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as admissible to faculty members under Government of Odisha rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Applications received by the due date will be screened in 3 stages:

1. Application Screening: Eligibility check as on the closing date of online application.
2. Shortlisting based on Academic Score: Candidates are shortlisted as per the Academic Score in Table 2 of UGC Notification dated 18 July 2018. A maximum of 15 candidates for a single post (or 1:10 ratio for multiple posts) are called for interview.
3. Personal Interview: Candidates are judged holistically — cognitive domain (subject knowledge), psychomotor domain (experience and skill) and affective domain (response, confidence). You must present a 9-slide PPT covering biodata, subject strength, practical skills, contribution to Viksit Bharat/Aatmnirbhar Bharat, use of AI in pedagogy, research projects, consultancy, collaboration, and contribution to the University.

Selection is finalised as per UGC Regulations Notification No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS), 18 July 2018 and the University Statute.

3. Fill the online application form for the post of Associate Professor in your chosen department.
4. Upload soft copies of all certificates and supporting documents in PDF/Image format and a passport-size photograph (JPEG, less than 200 KB).
5. Pay the application processing fee online (Rs. 1,500 for UR/SEBC, Rs. 1,000 for SC/ST/PwD).
6. Submit the online application before 15 June 2026 (11:59 PM).
7. Send a signed hard copy of the downloaded application along with all documents by Speed Post / Registered Post only to: The Registrar, Madhusudan Law University, Station Road, Cuttack, Odisha-753 003, so as to reach on or before 30 June 2026 (6:00 PM). Courier, ordinary post or hand delivery will not be accepted.
