Madhusudan Law University (MLU), Cuttack — a State University established under The Odisha Universities Act, 1989 — has released a detailed advertisement for filling up 32 regular Assistant Professor posts across the Law category (24 posts) and the Non-Law / Social Science category (8 posts). Selection is interview-based with no written examination. Eligibility is as per UGC Notification F.1-2/2017(EC/PS) dated 18 July 2018 and amendments. Both freshers (with NET/SET) and experienced candidates can apply through the Odisha HIMS portal.

Who Can Apply?

You must satisfy either Option A or Option B below:

Option A — Master's Degree + NET/SET (or exempted Ph.D):

• A Master's Degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Must have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC, or similar tests like SLET/SET, OR
• Awarded a Ph.D. Degree under UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2009 or 2016 — such candidates are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
• Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11 July 2009 and meeting the 5 conditions of the Ordinance are also exempted from NET/SLET/SET.

Option B — Foreign Ph.D from Top-500 University:

• Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 World University Ranking at any time by QS, Times Higher Education (THE), or Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU - Shanghai Jiao Tong).

5% relaxation in marks is allowed for SC/ST/PwBD candidates at both Bachelor's and Master's level.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 60 years (present superannuation age as per Govt. of Odisha norms).
• Candidates above 60 years will not be eligible to apply.

Salary

• Selected Assistant Professors will get a salary in Pay Level 10 (Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month) in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
• The scale of pay and other service conditions will be based on the UGC Scale of Pay as decided by the State Government from time to time.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as admissible to faculty members under Government of Odisha rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Applications received by the due date will be screened in 3 stages:

1. Application Screening: Eligibility check as on the closing date of online application.
2. Shortlisting by Academic Score: Candidates are shortlisted as per the Academic Score in Table 3A of Appendix-II of UGC Notification dated 18 July 2018. A maximum of 15 candidates for a single post (or 1:10 ratio for multiple posts) are called for interview.
3. Personal Interview: Candidates are judged holistically — cognitive domain (subject knowledge), psychomotor domain (experience and skill) and affective domain (response, confidence). You must present a 9-slide PPT covering biodata, subject strength, practical skills, contribution to Viksit Bharat/Aatmnirbhar Bharat, use of AI in pedagogy, research projects, consultancy, collaboration and contribution to the University.

Selection is finalised as per UGC Regulations Notification No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS), 18 July 2018 and the University Statute.

2. Register yourself and login.
3. Fill the online application form for the post of Assistant Professor in your chosen department/subject.
4. Upload soft copies of all certificates and supporting documents in PDF/Image format and a passport-size photograph (JPEG, less than 200 KB).
5. Pay the application processing fee online (Rs. 1,000 for UR/SEBC, Rs. 500 for SC/ST/PwD).
6. Submit the online application before 15 June 2026 (11:59 PM).
7. Send a signed hard copy of the downloaded application along with all documents by Speed Post / Registered Post only to: The Registrar, Madhusudan Law University, Station Road, Cuttack, Odisha-753 003, so as to reach on or before 30 June 2026 (6:00 PM). Courier, ordinary post or hand delivery will not be accepted.
