Of the 2 vacancies, 1 is unreserved (UR) and 1 is reserved for the TBC category as per the notification. This is a senior judicial post open to practicing Advocates as well as serving Judicial Officers who meet the experience criteria — it is one of the few direct entry routes into the higher judiciary in Manipur.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must hold a degree in law (LLB) from a recognized university.
  • Experience: You must have practiced as an Advocate in civil and criminal courts for at least 7 years as on the closing date, or have 7+ years of combined experience as an Advocate and a Judicial Officer, or 7+ years continuously as a Judicial Officer before entering Judicial Service.
  • Advocate: This term includes serving Government Pleaders and Public Prosecutors as well.
  • Language: You must have sufficient working knowledge of Manipuri, the State Official Language.
  • Note: In-service Judicial Officers are also eligible if they meet the equivalent experience criteria above.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 35 and 45 years old as on the last date of application submission (22 September 2026).
  • Age Relaxation: OBC candidates can apply up to 48 years; SC/ST candidates can apply up to 50 years.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary in the J-5 scale of Rs. 1,44,840 to Rs. 1,94,660 per month.
  • You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per High Court of Manipur service rules.

Application Fee

  • SC / ST: Rs. 1,000
  • PwD: No fee
  • Payment mode: Online only, through State Bank Collect. Fees are non-refundable in any case.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages, based purely on merit:

  1. Written Examination (300 Marks): 3 papers of 100 marks each, 3 hours per paper — Paper I covers General Knowledge, Aptitude and English; Paper II covers Property, Procedure and Evidence laws; Paper III is Judgment Writing and Jurisprudence. You need at least 50% marks to qualify for the interview. The High Court may shortlist up to 3 times the number of vacancies for the interview stage.
  2. Viva-Voce/Interview (50 Marks): Tests your overall suitability, including knowledge of the Manipuri language. You need at least 40% marks in the interview to make the final select list.

The final select list is prepared based on your combined marks in the Written Examination and Viva-Voce/Interview.

At the time of the Viva-Voce/Interview, you must produce your original documents along with self-attested photocopies — including your Admit Card, Class X certificate, LLB certificate, enrollment certificate, and certificates of practice or experience.
