Karnataka State Police (KSP), under the Home Department of the Government of Karnataka, has released official notification (NR-230, GR-900) dated 05.03.2026 for direct recruitment of 8176 posts across Civil Police Constable, Armed Police Constable (CAR/DAR), KSRP Constable, KSISF Constable, and Detective Sub-Inspector. This is one of the largest police recruitment drives in Karnataka, covering both Kalyana Karnataka (1786 posts) and Non-Kalyana Karnataka (6390 posts) regions. Who Can Apply?

For Constable Posts (CPC, APC, KSRP, KSISF)

  • Qualification: You must have passed 12th Class (PUC) or equivalent from a recognised board.
  • Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.
  • Domicile: Karnataka domicile is required. Kalyana Karnataka quota is applicable for posts in the KK region.

For Detective Sub-Inspector (DSI)

  • Qualification: You need a Bachelor's Degree (B.Com, B.Sc, B.E/B.Tech or equivalent) from a recognised university.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 27 years old (General category).
  • OBC (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B): Relaxation of 3 years (up to 30 years).
  • SC/ST: Relaxation of 5 years (up to 32 years).
  • PwBD: Relaxation of 10 years.
  • In-service candidates: Relaxation up to 35 years.
  • Tribal candidates: Relaxation up to 32-35 years.

Salary

  • Civil Police Constable: Pay scale of Rs. 21,400 to Rs. 42,000 per month.
  • Armed Police Constable / KSRP / KSISF: Pay scale of Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 51,400 per month.
  • You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance, Medical Allowance, Uniform Allowance, and other benefits as per Karnataka Government rules.
  • In-hand salary for constables is estimated at Rs. 21,000 to Rs. 26,000 per month at entry level.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates

  • Height: Minimum 170 cm (5 feet 7 inches)
  • Chest: 86 cm (unexpanded) with 5 cm expansion
  • Running: 1600 metres in 6 minutes 30 seconds
  • Long Jump: Not less than 3.80 metres (3 chances)
  • High Jump: Not less than 1.20 metres (3 chances)
  • Shot Put (7.26 kg): Not less than 5.60 metres (3 chances)

For Female Candidates

  • Height: Minimum 157 cm (5 feet 2 inches)
  • Weight: Minimum 45 kg
  • Running: 400 metres in 2 minutes
  • Long Jump: Not less than 2.50 metres (3 chances)
  • High Jump: Not less than 0.90 metres (3 chances)
  • Shot Put (4 kg): Not less than 3.75 metres (3 chances)

For Tribal/Forest Area Candidates

  • Male: Minimum height 155 cm, Chest 75 cm with 5 cm expansion
  • Female: Minimum height 150 cm

Note: You must pass either Long Jump or High Jump — you can attempt both but need to qualify in at least one.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 4 stages:

  1. Written Examination (OMR Based): 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks. Duration: 90 minutes (1.5 hours). Available in Kannada and English. Negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks: 30%.
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Your height, weight, and chest measurements will be checked against the prescribed standards.
  3. Physical Endurance Test (PET): Running, long jump/high jump, and shot put tests as per the standards mentioned above. This is a qualifying test.
  4. Medical Examination: Final medical fitness check before appointment.

Candidates will be shortlisted for PST/PET based on written exam performance.

  • Maintain law and order in the assigned area of jurisdiction
  • Patrol designated beats and respond to emergency calls promptly
  • Register FIRs, assist in criminal investigations, and collect evidence
  • Manage traffic control and crowd management during public events and festivals
  • Escort VIPs and secure important locations when assigned
  • Prepare daily reports, maintain duty registers, and update case records
  • Assist senior officers in maintaining public safety and conducting raids
  • Handle community policing activities and resolve local disputes
