Kerala Public Service Commission has released notification Category No. 048/2026 to fill anticipated vacancies for one common post that carries four designations — Workshop Instructor, Demonstrator, Instructor Grade II and Draftsman Grade II in Electrical Engineering. All four designations share the same pay scale and the same diploma qualification, and a single ranked list will be prepared for them. This is a direct recruitment into Kerala Government Service, so once you are appointed you get a stable, pensionable state government job in a technical education institution. 4% of the total vacancies are reserved for eligible differently abled candidates. Because the vacancy count is anticipated, more openings that come up during the life of the list can also be filled from the same ranked list.

The ranked list prepared from this notification stays valid for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years. Candidates are advised for appointment from this list as and when vacancies are reported to the Commission, so even if you are not appointed immediately, your rank keeps you in line for future openings.

The 4% reservation for differently abled candidates is provided under Section 34 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. The photograph you upload during registration stays valid for 10 years, so use a clear, recent photo with your name and the date printed on it. Since applications are accepted online only, make sure your One Time Registration profile is complete and correct well before the last date — any correction made after the deadline will not reflect in your submitted application.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Diploma in the appropriate branch of Engineering or Technology (Electrical), awarded by a University or Government after a regular course of study of not less than three years, or an equivalent qualification.
• Equivalent / higher qualifications: Qualifications recognised by Government orders as equivalent to the diploma, and higher qualifications that already include the diploma, are also accepted. You must produce the relevant Government order when the Commission asks for it.
• Recognised institutions: Diplomas and degrees from UGC-approved universities or institutions set up by an Act of Parliament or a State Legislature are valid for appointment in Government service.
• One Time Registration: You must first register through the One Time Registration (OTR) system on the Kerala PSC website before you can apply for this post.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 40 years old. Only candidates born between 2 January 1986 and 1 January 2008 (both dates included) are eligible to apply.
• Age Relaxation: Other Backward Communities and SC/ST candidates get the usual age relaxation as per Kerala PSC rules.
• Technical Education Department staff: serving officers get extra relaxation equal to their service in the department, up to a maximum of 10 years — but the age must not cross 50 years as on 1 January 2026.

Salary

• Selected candidates get a pay scale of Rs. 41,300 to Rs. 87,000 per month as per the Kerala Government pay structure.
• You will also receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA) and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

Selection Process

Kerala PSC selects candidates by preparing a ranked list based on merit:

1. Written / OMR Test: If the Commission conducts a written, OMR or online test for this selection, you must submit a confirmation to write the exam through your One Time Registration profile. Only then can you generate and download your admission ticket in the last 15 days before the test.
2. Ranked List: Kerala PSC publishes a ranked list of qualified candidates, and appointments are advised from it against reported vacancies.
3. Document Verification: You must produce your original documents proving qualification, age, community and other claims when the Commission calls for them.
