Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) Clerk-Typist Recruitment 2026 - Special Recruitment for SC/ST

Kerala Public Service Commission has invited applications from qualified Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates of Kerala State for the post of Clerk-Typist. Only SC/ST candidates can apply — applications from any other community will be rejected without a separate rejection notice. The current vacancy is in Thrissur district, and a district-wise ranked list will be prepared. This is a direct recruitment into permanent Kerala Government Service, giving you a secure clerical job with regular pay and pension benefits.

The ranked list published for Thrissur stays valid for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years. Besides the current opening, further Special Recruitment vacancies for SC/ST reported during the life of the list can also be filled from this same list, so a good rank keeps you in line for future openings too.

This selection is made on a revenue district basis. If you are appointed in Thrissur, you cannot transfer to another district until you complete five years of continuous service there. Candidates on the ranked list may also be advised against headquarters vacancies. Who Can Apply?

• Community: You must belong to a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe of Kerala State. This is a special recruitment reserved only for SC/ST candidates.
• Basic Qualification: A pass in SSLC or its equivalent.
• Typewriting (Malayalam): Lower Grade Certificate in Typewriting Malayalam (KGTE) or equivalent.
• Typewriting (English) + Computer: Lower Grade Certificate in Typewriting English (KGTE) and Computer Word Processing, or equivalent.
• If you passed KGTE Typewriting before January 2002, you must hold a separate Computer Word Processing certificate (or equivalent) at the time of applying.
• Ex-servicemen: Those with 15 years of clerical service in the defence forces get relaxations on the Malayalam typewriting requirement, which they must clear before completing probation.
• Linguistic minorities: If your first language in the SSLC exam was a language other than Malayalam, you can apply even without the Malayalam typewriting certificate, but you must acquire it before completing probation.
• Typewriting certificates are accepted only if issued by the Government — certificates from private typewriting institutes will not be accepted.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 45 years old. Only candidates born between 2 January 1981 and 1 January 2008 (both dates included) are eligible.
• Age Relaxation: If qualified candidates are not available within the age limit, the upper age limit can be relaxed up to 50 years — but in no case will it exceed 50 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates get a pay scale of Rs. 26,500 to Rs. 60,700 per month as per the Kerala Government pay structure.
• You will also receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

Selection Process

Kerala PSC selects candidates by preparing a district-wise ranked list based on merit:

1. Written / OMR Test: If the Commission holds a written, OMR or online test, you must confirm your participation through your One Time Registration profile and download the admission ticket in the last 15 days before the test.
2. Ranked List: A district-wise ranked list is prepared for Thrissur, and appointments are advised from it against the reported vacancy and further SC/ST vacancies.
3. Document Verification: You must produce original documents proving your SSLC, typewriting, community, age and other claims when called.

How to Apply

1. Go to the Kerala PSC portal at keralapsc.gov.in.
2. Complete the One Time Registration if you have not registered already.
3. Log in to your profile using your User ID and password.
4. Open the notification for this Clerk-Typist post and click Apply Now.
5. Upload a recent photograph taken within the last 6 months, with your name and the date printed on it.
6. Add your Aadhaar as ID proof, submit the application, and keep a printout or soft copy for future reference.
