Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) has released Category No. 081/2026 for the post of Braillist in the General Education Department. A Braillist transcribes learning material into Braille so that visually impaired students can access school textbooks and study material. No application fee is required for this post. If you have SSLC qualification along with Braille writing skills, this is a good opportunity to work in a permanent government role supporting inclusive education.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have completed the SSLC course.
• Skill: You need proficiency in Braille writing in English, Malayalam and Hindi.
• Special Test: You must be ready to sit for a special test in Braille writing in these three languages, as prescribed under G.O.MS.No.504/Edn. dated 29 August 1961.
• Equivalent Qualifications: If you hold a qualification recognized by the Kerala Government as equivalent or higher than SSLC, you may also be considered eligible. You will need to produce the relevant government order when asked by the Commission.
• Method of Appointment: Direct Recruitment

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 48 years old, born between 2 January 1978 and 1 January 2008 (both dates included), as on 1 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates and Other Backward Communities candidates get the usual age relaxation as per government norms.
• In no case will the maximum upper age limit exceed 50 years.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 35,600 to Rs. 75,400 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

Selection Process

KPSC will prepare a ranked list of selected candidates for this post. The ranked list stays valid for a minimum of one year and up to three years, and the Commission will advise more candidates from the same list if additional vacancies come up during this period.

1. Special Braille Writing Test: You will need to appear for a practical test that checks your Braille writing proficiency in English, Malayalam, and Hindi.
2. Document Verification: You must upload original documents proving your qualification, age, and community details whenever the Commission asks for them.

Note: 4% of the vacancies for this post are reserved for candidates with Benchmark Disabilities, as per G.O(P) No. 5/2023/SJD dated 1 October 2023.

3. Log in to your profile using your User-ID and password.

5. Upload a photograph taken within the last 6 months if you have not already done so.
6. Submit your application and keep a printout or soft copy for future reference.
