Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) has released Category No. 095/2026 for the post of Lower Division Typist across various departments. This is a Special Recruitment for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates — one vacancy is open to both SC and ST candidates, while the second is reserved exclusively for ST candidates. Both vacancies are for Idukki district, and Kerala PSC will prepare a separate district-wise rank list that stays valid for one to three years, so more vacancies for this category may be filled from the same list later.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed SSLC or an equivalent exam.
• Typewriting Malayalam: Lower Grade Certificate in Typewriting Malayalam (KGTE) or an equivalent qualification.
• Typewriting English + Computer: Lower Grade Certificate in Typewriting English (KGTE) along with a Computer Word Processing certificate, or an equivalent qualification.
• Category: Only Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates of Kerala can apply — the second vacancy is open to ST candidates only.

Exemptions: Ex-servicemen who completed a full term of defence service, and candidates who worked as Clerk/Writer in the defence forces for 15+ years, can apply without the Malayalam Typewriting qualification but must acquire it before completing probation. Candidates from linguistic minority communities (whose first language in SSLC was not Malayalam) can also apply without this qualification, subject to the same condition.

Age Limit

• You should be born between 2 January 1981 and 1 January 2008 (both dates included) — this works out to 18 to 45 years.
• Age Relaxation: If not enough qualified candidates apply within this age range, the upper age limit can be relaxed up to 50 years, but never beyond that.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 26,500 to Rs. 60,700 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

Selection Process

Kerala PSC will prepare a rank list for Idukki district based on this notification:

1. Written/OMR/Online Test (if conducted): If a test is held for this post, confirm your willingness to write it through your OTR profile, then download your admit card in the last 15 days before the exam.
2. Rank List: A district-wise rank list is prepared for Idukki and stays valid for one to three years.
3. Document Verification: You must produce original documents proving your qualification, age, community, and typewriting certificates when asked.

Good to know: If the caste shown in your application differs from your SSLC certificate, you must produce a caste-difference gazette notification along with your community certificate at document verification. Providing false information about your qualifications, experience or age can lead to rejection of your application or disciplinary action, including debarment from future Kerala PSC selections.

Note: If appointed from the Idukki district rank list, Working Arrangement, Deputation, Transfer and Mutual Transfer will not be allowed for at least 10 years, and your promotion will also be limited to Idukki district.
