Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) Driver Grade II (LDV) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) has released a First NCA (Non-Availability of Candidates) notification for 1 Driver Grade II (LDV) / Driver-Cum-Office Attendant (LDV) post in Kozhikode district, across various government departments (except NCC, Tourism, Excise, Police, SWD and Transport). This vacancy is reserved exclusively for candidates from the Viswakarma community of Kerala, issued because the ranked list published earlier for this district ran out of eligible community candidates before all reserved vacancies could be filled. This combined Driver-Cum-Office Attendant role means that, besides driving duties, you may also be assigned basic office support work such as carrying files, running errands and assisting with day-to-day administrative tasks in the department you are posted to.
If you are selected, you will be posted in Kozhikode district on a revenue-district basis. Transfer to another district is not normally permitted until you complete 5 years of continuous service. Candidates already holding this post in any district under a previous selection cannot apply again for the same post, but can apply for higher posts when notified.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must have passed Standard VII / IIIrd Form.
- Driving Licence: You need a valid Driving Licence of 3 years standing to drive Light Motor Vehicles. The Driver's Badge requirement has been exempted for Light Motor Vehicles since 12 October 2018.
- Community: This post is reserved exclusively for candidates belonging to the Viswakarma community of Kerala. Applications from other communities will be summarily rejected.
- Medical Fitness: You should have normal hearing, 6/6 distant vision in both eyes, and no paralysis or joint problems that could affect driving.
- Differently abled candidates are not eligible to apply for this post.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, the Commission also accepts equivalent qualifications recognised by executive orders or standing orders of the Government. If you claim a caste or community that differs from what is recorded in your SSLC Book, you must produce a gazette notification along with a Non-Creamy Layer certificate at the time of document verification.
Age Limit
- You should be between 18 and 46 years old (born between 02-01-1980 and 01-01-2008).
- Age Relaxation: Further relaxation is available as per General Conditions for certain categories, but the upper age limit cannot exceed 50 years in any case.
If you are appointed from this ranked list, keep in mind that promotion and mutual transfer rules for candidates working in Idukki, Wayanad and Kasaragod districts carry a ten-year restriction, so make sure you understand the working arrangement conditions attached to this district before you apply.
Salary
- Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 25,100 to Rs. 57,900 per month.
- You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.
Application Fee
- All Candidates: No application fee is required for this post.
Selection Process
The selection will be done in the following stages:
- Written Test / OMR Test / Online Test: Conducted only if the Commission receives an unusually large number of applications.
- Practical Test: An 'H' Test followed by a Road Test to check your proficiency in driving Light Motor Vehicles. Only candidates who clear the 'H' Test are allowed to take the Road Test.
- Original Testimonial Verification (OTV): You must produce your original certificates for education, driving licence, community and age when the Commission asks for them.
- Interview
You must keep a valid Driving Licence throughout every stage of the selection process, from the last date of application to the Interview. Once appointed, you will be on probation for 2 years within a continuous period of 3 years. If you submit false claims about your qualification or experience, the Commission can disqualify you under Rule 22 of the Kerala Public Service Commission Rules of Procedure, 1976, and can also take disciplinary or legal action against you.
