Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) is hiring a System Administrator on contract for its National Supercomputing Mission project. The role supports the PARAM Yukti and Malaigae high-performance computing systems used by researchers at the centre. This is an operational HPC position, combining daily Linux administration with first-level help for scientific users.

You will work close to the cluster environment rather than in a general desktop-support role. User provisioning, scheduler troubleshooting, node monitoring, software modules and storage health are central to the assignment. The notice particularly suits someone who already understands Linux command-line administration and shell scripting and wants deeper exposure to Slurm, cluster networking and research-computing workflows.

The position also has a service-facing side. Researchers need clear guidance when jobs fail, resources are requested incorrectly or storage policies are misunderstood. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract basis: The role belongs to the National Supercomputing Mission project and is not described as a regular JNCASR appointment.
• Flexible hours: Cluster work can need attention outside a fixed office schedule. You must be willing to adjust your hours when operations demand it.
• Campus proximity: The selected person may need to relocate closer to the JNCASR campus so system issues can be handled reliably.
