About This Job

IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) is hiring 84 Hospitality Monitors on a contract basis for its South Zone. Your monthly salary will be Rs. 30,000 (CTC) along with daily allowance and other benefits. This is a walk-in interview — no online application needed. The interview will be held on 25, 27, and 28 April 2026 at the IRCTC Zonal Office in Chennai. Freshers with a degree in hospitality or hotel management can apply.

IRCTC Hospitality Monitor Recruitment 2026 — 84 Posts

IRCTC, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, manages catering, tourism, and online ticketing services for Indian Railways. This recruitment drive is for the South Zone, covering operations across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. You will get hands-on experience working on premium trains like Vande Bharat, Bharat Gaurav, and other Express/Mail trains. The contract is for 2 years, extendable by 1 more year based on your performance.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

You need any one of the following degrees from a recognized university:

  • B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration
  • BBA/MBA (Culinary Arts) from Indian Culinary Institutes under Ministry of Tourism
  • B.Sc. Hotel Management and Catering Science
  • MBA (Tourism and Hotel Management) from Government recognized universities affiliated to UGC/AICTE (CIHM/SIHM/PIHM), or National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHM & CT)

Experience

Freshers are eligible — no prior work experience is needed. However, candidates with relevant educational qualifications in hospitality will be preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Computer knowledge — MS Office and report preparation skills are essential
  • Communication skills — Good verbal and written skills in both English and Hindi
  • Knowledge of Tamil, Kannada, or Malayalam is an added advantage
  • Only Indian Nationals can apply
  • Candidates working in Govt./PSUs must bring a NOC at the time of interview

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 27 years (as on 01/04/2026)
  • SC/ST candidates: Upper age relaxation of 5 years (max 32 years)
  • OBC candidates: Upper age relaxation of 3 years (max 30 years)
  • PwBD candidates: Upper age relaxation of 10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation up to the extent of service rendered in defence plus 3 years

Salary and Benefits

  • Total CTC: Rs. 30,000/- per month (inclusive of statutory deductions)
  • Daily Allowance: Rs. 350/day for on-duty on-board train duty (100% for 12+ hours, 70% for 6-12 hours, 30% for less than 6 hours)
  • Lodging charges: Rs. 240/- if night stay is involved in outstation
  • National Holiday Allowance: Rs. 384/day for working on national holidays
  • Medical Insurance: Up to 35 years — Rs. 1,400/month; 36-50 years — Rs. 2,000/month (reimbursable on submission of valid policy documents)

Security Deposit

  • Selected candidates must pay a security deposit of Rs. 25,000/- via DD/NEFT
  • This deposit is governed as per the terms and conditions of engagement
  • No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in interview

Selection Process

This is a walk-in interview — there is no written exam. Here is how the selection works:

  1. Document Verification — Your original certificates and attested copies will be checked at the venue
  2. Personal Interview — Based on your credentials and performance in the interview, candidates will be shortlisted
  3. Medical Fitness Test — Selected candidates must pass a medical fitness test as prescribed by IRCTC
  4. Merit List — Final selection is based on merit and number of vacancies. A reserved panel will also be created for any future shortfall

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor food production, quality, and services in nominated mobile catering units on Vande Bharat, Mail/Express, TSVs, Tourist, and Bharat Gaurav trains
  • Monitor food production and quality in static catering units, Base Kitchens, and Cluster Kitchens supplying meals to Vande Bharat Trains
  • Ensure proper working of equipment and proper pest control in mini pantry and pantry areas before each round trip
  • Handle customer and passenger care-related issues and manage complaints effectively
  • Collect feedback from passengers, analyze it, and implement course corrections
  • Follow company policies and standard hospitality procedures and ensure statutory compliance
  • Manage manpower and materials for nominated mobile and static catering units
  • Coordinate with various departments, offices, and business partners for smooth operations

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration / BBA/MBA (Culinary Arts/Tourism/Hotel Management) / B.Sc. Hotel Management and Catering Science from recognized university affiliated to UGC/AICTE/NCHM&CT

Preferred Qualification

MBA (Tourism and Hotel Management) from Government recognized universities

Required Skills

Good communication skills in English and Hindi, MS Office proficiency, report preparation
