Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), an aided institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has released Advt. No. 05/2026 for the engagement of Graduate and Technician Apprentices. IPR is a premier research institute located at Bhat, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, known for its advanced work in plasma physics and fusion energy. 32 Graduate Apprentices (Degree holders) and 18 Technician Apprentices (Diploma holders) will be trained for one year under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973. This is a great opportunity for fresh engineering and commerce/arts graduates to gain hands-on experience at a world-class scientific research institute under DAE.

For Graduate Apprentices (Degree):

• Computer Engineering: B.Tech or B.E. in Computer Engineering
• Civil Engineering: B.Tech or B.E. in Civil Engineering
• Electrical Engineering: B.Tech or B.E. in Electrical Engineering
• Electronics & Communication: B.Tech or B.E. in Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering: B.Tech or B.E. in Mechanical Engineering
• Instrumentation & Control: B.Tech or B.E. in Instrumentation & Control Engineering
• General Stream: Graduate in Commerce (B.COM), Arts (B.A.), or Business Administration (B.B.A.)

For Technician Apprentices (Diploma):

• Computer Engineering: Diploma in Computer Engineering
• Civil Engineering: Diploma in Civil Engineering
• Electrical Engineering: Diploma in Electrical Engineering
• Electronics & Communication: Diploma in Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Instrumentation & Control: Diploma in Instrumentation & Control Engineering

Other Requirements:

• You must have passed your Degree or Diploma in 2024, 2025, or 2026 only. Candidates who passed in 2023 or before are not eligible.
• You must not have attended apprenticeship training anywhere else previously.
• You must register on the NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in) and get a valid registration number before applying.

Stipend

• Graduate Apprentices (Degree holders): Rs. 13,500 per month (consolidated)
• Technician Apprentices (Diploma holders): Rs. 12,000 per month (consolidated)
• No DA, HRA, or other allowances. No TA/DA for document verification or joining.
• Accommodation is not provided. You need to arrange your own stay in Gandhinagar.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based entirely on your academic performance — no written exam or interview:

1. Merit List: Shortlisting is done based on the percentage of marks in your Degree or Diploma. Higher percentage = better chance of selection.
2. Document Verification: Selected candidates must get their certificates and testimonials verified. If you have CGPA/SGPA, bring the percentage conversion formula from your university.
3. Medical Fitness Check: Candidature is provisional until medical fitness is confirmed.

The list of selected candidates will be displayed on the IPR website.

• Assist senior scientists and engineers with assigned project work and experiments
• Handle day-to-day operational tasks in the respective engineering or administrative department

• Support data collection, analysis, and reporting activities
• Participate in training sessions and workshops organized by IPR during the apprenticeship
• Prepare technical notes, test reports, and presentations as required by the supervisor
