Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a Maharatna and Fortune Global 500 company, has released advertisement number PDR/HR/01/Apprentices-26 for engaging 582 Trade Apprentices and Technician Apprentices across 10 trades at Paradip Refinery. With 180 seats just for the Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant) trade, this is one of the biggest IOCL apprentice drives this year, open to candidates from 10th pass to graduate level. Please note: completing the apprenticeship does not give you any right to a permanent job at IOCL.

Vacancy Breakdown by Trade

Seats include reservation for UR, EWS, SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and PwBD as per Odisha norms (UR 234, EWS 58, SC 93, ST 128, OBC 69, PwBD 23). The numbers are tentative and may change at the time of engagement.

Who Can Apply?

You must have already passed the required qualification as on 30 June 2026 with at least 50% marks (45% for SC / ST / PwBD on reserved seats). The course must be a regular full-time course from a recognised Board, University or Institute. Pick the trade that matches your qualification:

Graduate Trades

• B.Sc (Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry): Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant)
• B.A. / B.Sc / B.Com: Secretarial Assistant
• B.Com: Accountant

Diploma Trades (Technician Apprentice)

• Diploma in Chemical / Petrochemical / Refinery Engineering: Chemical discipline
• Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering: respective disciplines

ITI and 12th Pass Trades

• Class 10 + ITI in Fitter: Trade Apprentice (Fitter)
• Class 12 pass: Data Entry Operator (Fresher) and Skill Certificate holder posts

Important Conditions

• You can apply for only one trade. Applying for more than one will get your application rejected.
• If you hold a higher qualification like BE / B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB or MCA, you are not eligible.
• You should be within 5 years of getting your qualifying degree/diploma.
• Courses done through part-time, correspondence or distance mode are not accepted.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 24 years old as on 30 June 2026 (for General / EWS).
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC / ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), and 10 years for PwBD candidates.
• Your Class 10 (Matriculation) certificate is the only accepted proof of date of birth.

Salary (Stipend)

• You will get a monthly stipend as fixed under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 and IOCL guidelines.
• You will also get accident insurance cover and paid leave (32 days general leave + 12 days casual leave).
• No HRA or company accommodation is given to apprentices.

Application Fee

• IOCL has not charged any application fee for this apprenticeship. Applying through the NAPS/NATS portals is free.
• SC / ST / PwBD candidates called for Document Verification get reimbursed second-class train fare (if the distance is over 30 km).

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test. Selection is done in these steps:

1. Merit List: Candidates are ranked by their percentage of marks in the qualifying exam (highest first). Preference is given to those applying for apprenticeship for the first time.
2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates are called to verify their original certificates.
3. Pre-Engagement Medical Fitness: Only candidates declared medically fit are engaged as apprentices.

If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate (by date of birth) is ranked higher.

How to Apply

1. First, get a valid Apprentice Registration/Enrolment Number on the NAPS portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) or NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in).
2. Go to iocl.com and open What's New > Engagement of Apprentices at Paradip Refinery > Detailed Advertisement.
3. Apply on the right portal — NAPS for codes 101, 102, 108, 109, 110, 111 and NATS for codes 104, 105, 106, 107 — using Paradip Refinery Establishment ID (NATS: EORJSC000003, NAPS: E07192100001).
4. Then fill the mandatory Microsoft (MS) Form linked on the IOCL page.
5. Complete both Step I and Step II before 28 July 2026, 5:00 PM. Applications missing either step are rejected.

• Assist operators and technicians with day-to-day plant tasks
• Follow all safety rules and wear the protective equipment given to you in plant areas
• Operate and maintain the equipment related to your trade or discipline
• Keep training records and prepare simple reports as part of on-the-job training
• Attend all training sessions and complete assignments on time
• Work in shifts as per the refinery schedule when required
