About This Recruitment
The Indian Army has invited applications for the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry Scheme - 124th Course under Short Service Commission (SSC). This is a great chance for law graduates to join the Indian Army as officers in the legal branch.
Who Can Apply
- You must have an LLB degree (3-year or 5-year course) with at least 55% marks
- You must have a valid CLAT PG 2025 score (this is mandatory for shortlisting)
- Your age should be between 21 and 27 years as on 01 Jul 2026
- Only unmarried candidates can apply
- You must be physically fit as per Army standards
How Many Posts
- Total vacancies: 8 posts
- Men: 4 posts

Salary and Benefits
Selected candidates will get Pay Level 10 under the 7th Pay Commission.
- Basic Pay: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month
- Military Service Pay (MSP): Rs. 15,500 per month
- Total CTC on commissioning: About Rs. 17-18 Lakh per year
- Allowances: DA, Transport Allowance, Children Education Allowance, and more
- Insurance: Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF) cover of Rs. 1.25 Crore
Selection Process
There is no written exam for this recruitment. The selection is done in these steps:
- Shortlisting - Based on your CLAT PG 2025 score
- SSB Interview - 5-day interview at one of these centres: Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar
- Medical Exam - You must pass the medical fitness test
- Final Merit List - Based on SSB performance and medical fitness
Training
- Training duration: 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai
- Training starts from October 2026
Service Tenure
- Initial tenure: 10 years
- Can be extended up to 14 years
- Option for Permanent Commission after 10 years of service
