Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, located in the picturesque hills of Himachal Pradesh, has announced recruitment for 17 Junior Assistant positions through Advertisement No. IIT Mandi/Recruit./NTS/2026/01. All posts are based at the Kamand campus in District Mandi. One of the 17 posts is reserved for a PwD candidate under the Unreserved category. Who Can Apply?

• Option 1: You need a Bachelor's Degree with at least 55% marks from a recognised university, along with knowledge of computer applications and at least 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Option 2: You need a Master's Degree with at least 55% marks from a recognised university, along with knowledge of computer applications. No experience is needed if you have a Master's degree.
• Computer Knowledge: You must know computer applications including open-source software such as Open Office. Fluency in English is also required.
• Desirable: Experience in handling Establishment matters, Legal, Purchase and Import, Accounts, Audit, or Hospitality work.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 30 years as on 09 April 2026 (the last date of application).
• SC/ST: 5 years relaxation (up to 35 years).
• OBC (NCL): 3 years relaxation (up to 33 years).
• PwD and Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation as per Government of India rules.
• IIT Regular Employees: Up to 50 years if educationally qualified.
• Contract/Outsourced workers at IIT Mandi: Up to 50 years if they have served at least 3 years at IIT Mandi with good performance.

Salary

• Selected candidates will be placed at Pay Level 03 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
• Basic pay ranges from Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100 per month depending on experience and increments.
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.
• All positions are initially on probation as per Institute norms, and will be regularised after successful completion of the probation period.

• OBC-NCL: Rs. 400 (application + processing fee)
• SC / ST / Women / PwD / Ex-Servicemen: Rs. 300 (processing fee only - application fee is exempted)

Selection Process

The selection will involve the following stages:

1. Screening / Shortlisting: The Institute may form a Screening Committee to shortlist candidates based on qualifications and experience higher than the minimum eligibility criteria. Simply meeting the basic requirements does not guarantee a call for the test.
2. Written Test / Trade Test: A written examination or trade test may be conducted for shortlisted candidates, depending on the circumstances.
3. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must be found medically fit as per Institute requirements.
4. Document Verification: You will need to present all original certificates at the time of the selection process and while joining.
