Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, one of the oldest and most reputed technical institutes in India, has released a faculty advertisement for 30 Assistant Professor posts at Grade-I and Grade-II levels. The positions are open across many disciplines, including Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Mining and Petroleum Engineering, along with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Management and Humanities. Indian nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) and Foreign Nationals can apply. Who Can Apply?

You need a Ph.D. with a first class (or equivalent) at the preceding degree in the relevant branch, along with a consistently good academic record. The two grades differ by experience:

Assistant Professor Grade-II (Pay Level 10 - Rs. 70,900/month):

• Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with less than 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching, research or industrial experience.
• This grade is offered on a contract basis to begin with.

Assistant Professor Grade-I (Pay Level 12 - Rs. 1,01,500/month):

• Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with at least 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching, research or industrial experience.
• This is a regular faculty position.

Age Limit

• For general (UR) candidates, the age is preferably below 35 years.
• Age Relaxation: OBC, SC, ST and PwD candidates get relaxation as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• Assistant Professor Grade-II: Academic Pay Level 10 with a starting basic pay of Rs. 70,900 per month.
• Assistant Professor Grade-I: Academic Pay Level 12 with a starting basic pay of Rs. 1,01,500 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Government of India and IIT rules.

Selection Process

There is no written exam. The selection is done through the following steps:

1. Screening and Shortlisting: Applications are checked by the concerned department against the eligibility norms.
2. Seminar/Presentation: Shortlisted candidates present a technical seminar before the department.
3. Personal Interview: The Selection Committee interviews the shortlisted candidates.
4. Document Verification of qualification, experience and category certificates.
