The Centre for Development Policy and Management (CDPM) at IIM Udaipur has opened applications for 1 Research Associate on a project basis. The work is for a two-year study looking at how CSR-funded education programmes work in government schools across Rajasthan. Selection is based on your profile and an interview — there is no written exam. This role suits social science postgraduates who enjoy fieldwork, interviews, and policy research.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a Master's degree in social sciences — preferably in Education, Sociology, Anthropology, Development Studies, Public Policy, or Economics.
• Experience: You need at least 2 years of relevant experience. Prior work in interviews, FGDs, or ethnographic observations is strongly preferred.
• Experience with government bodies, schools, NGOs, or CSR units in Rajasthan is an added advantage.
• Past work in education research, CSR evaluation, or social sector studies is desirable.

Skills You Need

• Strong research skills and proficiency in qualitative data analysis tools like NVivo or ATLAS.ti.
• Working knowledge of quantitative tools such as Excel, SPSS, Stata, or R for survey data cleaning and basic analysis.
• Excellent written English and proficiency in Hindi are essential for fieldwork.
• Ability to translate and transcribe interview data from Hindi or local dialects to English.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage many tasks under field conditions.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 45,000 per month.
• The post is for 12 months (June 2026 to May 2027), extendable up to March 2028 based on project needs and your performance.

• Conduct in-depth interviews with teachers, headmasters, NGO coordinators, CSR representatives, and government education officials
• Facilitate and document Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with students, school staff, and community members
• Carry out structured observations in government schools to study how CSR programmes work on the ground
• Transcribe, translate, and organise qualitative data from interviews and FGDs
• Support data coding, thematic analysis, and basic statistical analysis using Excel, SPSS, Stata, or R
• Contribute to literature reviews, research reports, policy briefs, and academic papers
• Coordinate with partner NGOs, schools, and district officials to schedule field visits
• Maintain project documentation, timelines, and progress trackers
