IIM Amritsar Faculty Recruitment 2026 - Rolling Advertisement

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar, the 15th IIM established by the Government of India, has released a rolling advertisement for faculty positions on regular, contractual, and deputation basis. The recruitment covers six management disciplines: Finance & Accounting, Marketing, Information Systems & Business Analytics, Quantitative Methods and Operations Management, Strategy, and Communications. Indian academicians as well as Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) with proven teaching and research credentials can apply. The institute is also inviting industry professionals for Professor/Associate Professor of Practice positions.

• Professor (Academic Level 14): Senior faculty role
• Associate Professor (Academic Level 13A2)
• Assistant Professor, Grade I (Academic Level 12)
• Assistant Professor, Grade II (Academic Level 11)
• Assistant Professor, Grade II (Academic Level 10)
• Professor / Associate Professor of Practice (Contractual, for industry/government professionals)

Who Can Apply?

You need a Ph.D. from a recognised institute or university (in India or abroad) along with First Class (Min 60%) or equivalent in both Master's and Bachelor's degrees, except for the Professor of Practice positions.

Professor (Academic Level 14)

• Ph.D. with 10 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research experience
• Out of which, 4 years must be at Associate Professor level
• Excellent record of publications in highly ranked international peer-reviewed journals
• Administrative, consulting, and executive education experience commensurate with the rank

Associate Professor (Academic Level 13A2)

• Ph.D. with 6 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research experience
• Out of which, 3 years must be at Assistant Professor Grade I level
• Strong publications in international peer-reviewed journals

Assistant Professor, Grade I (Academic Level 12)

• Ph.D. with 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research experience
• Demonstrated teaching record and research potential

Assistant Professor, Grade II (Academic Level 11)

• Ph.D. with 1 year of post-Ph.D. teaching/research experience
• Potential to teach across programs and publish in international journals

Assistant Professor, Grade II (Academic Level 10)

• Ph.D. with less than 1 year of post-Ph.D. experience, or a provisional Ph.D. degree
• Doctoral students who will not receive their provisional certificate by the application close date should NOT apply

Professor / Associate Professor of Practice

• Seasoned industry or government professionals with minimum 15 years of substantial experience
• Strong record of practical impact and demonstrated passion for teaching
• A Ph.D. is not mandatory if you have deep domain knowledge from practice
• Initial term of 1 or 2 years, renewable up to 5 years based on performance

Age Limit

• The notification does not specify a fixed age limit for faculty positions.
• Reservation policy of the Government of India applies to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PWD candidates.
• Applications from women and reserved category candidates are especially encouraged.

Salary

• Professor (Level 14): Rs. 1,44,200 - Rs. 2,18,200 per month
• Associate Professor (Level 13A2): Rs. 1,39,600 - Rs. 2,11,300 per month
• Assistant Professor Grade I (Level 12): Rs. 78,800 - Rs. 2,09,200 per month
• Assistant Professor Grade II (Level 11): Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700 per month
• Assistant Professor Grade II (Level 10): Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500 per month
• Professor of Practice: Compensation equivalent to regular Associate or Full Professor
• Plus DA, HRA, and other allowances as per 7th CPC and IIM Amritsar regulations
• Faculty members are eligible for a Seed Grant of up to Rs. 5 lakh for research activities
• Faculty Development Allowance (FDA) of up to Rs. 1.5 lakh per year for conferences and academic resources

Selection Process

Selection is merit-based with no written examination. The stages are:

1. Application Screening: The screening committee will evaluate academic credentials, teaching record, research publications, administrative experience, and service to the profession.
2. Research Seminar: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present a research seminar before the faculty.
3. Personal Interview: Final round to assess teaching ability, research potential, and fit with the institute.

Mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility does not entitle a candidate to be shortlisted. The institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for selection based on relevant criteria.
