TANUVAS is hiring 1 Project Assistant at the Department of Livestock Products Technology (Meat Science), Madras Veterinary College, Chennai. TANUVAS Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) has released a walk-in notification for 1 Project Assistant post under the Chief Minister's Research Grant (CMRG) funded project titled "Sustainable Nutritional Management of Community Dogs Through Budget-Friendly Balanced Pet Food Derived From Slaughterhouse Waste". This is a purely temporary, contractual engagement co-terminus with the project. Candidates with a background in meat science, food technology, or veterinary nutrition who want hands-on research experience can apply.

Essential Qualification
- Graduate degree in Veterinary Sciences, Food Technology, Poultry Technology, or related disciplines from a recognised university or equivalent.
Desirable Qualification
- Postgraduate degree in Veterinary Sciences, Food Technology, Poultry Technology, or related disciplines from a recognised university or equivalent.
- Knowledge of waste disposal, slaughterhouse by-products utilisation, product development, and nutritional and sensory quality evaluation.
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years (under the young professional category)
- Maximum age: 45 years
- Age relaxation is available as per rules.
Salary
- You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 25,000 per month.
- No House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be paid.
Duration of Engagement
- Initial engagement is for 12 months.
- Extendable by 1 more year based on need and performance.
- Maximum total duration: 2 years.
Selection Process
Selection is through a walk-in interview. The Dean's decision is final.
- Screening and Shortlisting: All candidates will be screened before the interview.
- Written Test (if conducted): A written test may be held before the interview.
- Walk-in Interview: Held on 12 June 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Department of Livestock Products Technology.
- Document Verification: Original certificates must be produced during the interview.

Responsibilities
- Work on the CMRG-funded project on balanced pet food from slaughterhouse waste under the Principal Investigator
- Handle slaughterhouse by-product collection, processing, and waste utilisation experiments
- Develop and evaluate budget-friendly pet food formulations for community dogs
- Conduct nutritional analysis and sensory quality evaluation of developed products
- Maintain lab records, sample logs, and inventory of raw materials and reagents
- Prepare progress reports, presentations, and data sheets for project review meetings
- Assist in drafting research papers and supporting the PI in routine project activities

Minimum Qualification
Graduate in Veterinary Sciences / Food Technology / Poultry Technology or related disciplines
Preferred Qualification
Postgraduate in Veterinary Sciences / Food Technology / Poultry Technology with knowledge of waste disposal, slaughterhouse by-products utilisation, product development and nutritional/sensory quality evaluation
