TANUVAS Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

TANUVAS, through Madras Veterinary College, is recruiting a Project Assistant for the CMRG-funded project on budget-friendly balanced pet food from slaughterhouse waste for community dogs. This is a temporary and contractual project post, linked to the duration and requirements of the project. Essential Qualification

  • You can apply if you are a graduate in Veterinary Sciences, Food Technology, Poultry Technology, B.Sc. Food and Nutrition (4-year course), B.Sc. Food, Nutrition and Dietetics (4-year course), B.Tech. Biotechnology, or a related discipline from a recognised university or equivalent institution.

Desirable Qualification

  • A postgraduate degree in Veterinary Sciences, Food Technology, Poultry Technology, Biotechnology, Food Science and Nutrition, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Knowledge of waste disposal, slaughterhouse by-products utilisation, product development, nutritional quality evaluation and sensory quality evaluation is desirable.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Maximum age: 45 years
  • Age relaxation is applicable as per rules.

Salary

  • Selected candidate will get Rs. 25,000 per month as consolidated remuneration.
  • No House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be paid.

Duration of Engagement

  • The initial engagement is for 12 months.
  • It can be extended for one more year based on requirement and performance.
  • The maximum duration will not go beyond two years.

Selection Process

Selection will be through a walk-in process at Madras Veterinary College. Candidates must bring original documents for verification.

  1. Screening and Shortlisting: Candidates attending the walk-in may be screened and shortlisted before interview.
  2. Written Test, if conducted: TANUVAS may conduct a written test before interview.
  3. Walk-in Interview: The revised interview date is 22 June 2026 at 11:00 AM.
  4. Document Verification: Original degree/provisional degree certificate, mark sheets and experience certificate, if any, must be produced.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the CMRG-funded project on balanced pet food from slaughterhouse waste under the Principal Investigator
  • Handle slaughterhouse by-product collection, processing, and waste utilisation experiments
  • Develop and evaluate budget-friendly pet food formulations for community dogs
  • Conduct nutritional analysis and sensory quality evaluation of developed products
  • Maintain lab records, sample logs, and inventory of raw materials and reagents
  • Prepare progress reports, presentations, and data sheets for project review meetings
  • Assist in drafting research papers and supporting the PI in routine project activities
