ICGEB Research Associate-1 and Project Associate-1 Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi has released a vacancy notice for 2 positions — 1 RA-1 and 1 PA-1 in the Omics of Algae Group (GOA). The work is part of the project "BioCO2nnect-Algae: Harnessing Non-Model Strains for Carbon Capture and High-Value Bioproduct," funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI. Experience in handling algal strains is mandatory, along with knowledge of omics biology and bioinformatics.

Who Can Apply?

For Research Associate-1 (RA-1)

• Qualification: Ph.D/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree, OR
• 3 years of research/teaching/industrial experience after ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in a peer-reviewed journal.

For Project Associate-1 (PA-1)

• Qualification: Master's Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences or any other relevant field from a recognised university or equivalent.
• Plus: Selection through CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship), GATE, or a national-level selection process conducted by central government departments, agencies or institutions.

Mandatory for Both Posts

• Experience in handling algal strains is mandatory.
• Working knowledge of omics biology or bioinformatics is essential.

Salary

• Salary will be as per DBT/ICGEB guidelines applicable to RA-1 and PA-1 positions.
• Standard DBT norms apply (typical RA-1 fellowship is around Rs. 47,000/month + HRA and PA-1 is around Rs. 31,000/month + HRA, subject to current DBT circulars).

Duration of Engagement

• Initial appointment is for 1 year.
• Extensions are possible based on performance review.

Selection Process

Selection is based on screening of applications followed by interview.

1. CV Screening: Shortlisting based on qualifications, publications and relevant experience in algal research.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview (online or in-person at ICGEB New Delhi).
3. Document Verification: Original certificates and publication proofs to be verified before joining.
