Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) JPF, Field Assistant & Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 5 Posts
The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, is filling 5 temporary project positions at its Institute of Forest Productivity (ICFRE-IFP) in Ranchi. The posts are spread across two research projects — one on eco-rehabilitation of degraded coal mines (running till 2029) and another on the demand and supply of medicinal plants (a 6-month project). There is no written test or online application for these posts — eligible candidates are selected purely through a walk-in interview. This is a good opportunity for science graduates and postgraduates who want hands-on research experience in forestry and environmental science.
The Junior Project Fellow and Field Assistant posts fall under the coal mine eco-rehabilitation project, which studies how forestry interventions can restore degraded mining land across different agroclimatic zones of India. The Project Assistant posts belong to a shorter, 6-month survey project that maps the demand and supply of medicinal plants and their raw material at a national level. All three posts are purely temporary and time-bound — they run co-terminus with the project and do not guarantee any job after the project ends. ICFRE can also end your engagement at any time, without giving a reason, based on the National Project Coordinator, Principal Coordinator, or Principal Investigator’s decision.
