Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a pioneer Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Yard under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has released Advertisement No. HR/ES(O)/0102/03/2026 dated 13 May 2026 for 3 Deputy Project Officer (Technical) posts on Fixed Term Contract basis. The posting will be at Visakhapatnam or Chennai (for works at L&T Kattupalli Shipyard). The contract is for 2 years and extendable by 1 year based on performance. Retired ex-servicemen of Indian Navy (ERA / EAP / SWA-3 and above) are especially preferred.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Essential: Full-time Graduate or Diploma with not less than 55% marks in Mechanical, Electrical, Shipwright or equivalent from a recognised university, deemed university or AICTE-recognised institute.

Experience

• Graduate Engineers: Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience.
• Diploma Engineers: Minimum 5 years work experience.
• Experience must be in any one or more of: Operation / Repairs / Refits / Maintenance / Trials / Inspection of Naval Ships or Submarines; Steel works like fabrication, erection and welding on naval ships/submarines; Installation and integration of equipment / systems; Setting to Work, Functional Trials and Harbour Trials of engineering / electrical / hull equipment.

Desirable

• Retired ex-servicemen of Indian Navy in ERA, EAP, SWA-3 or equivalent and above of ERA/EAP/SWA/MECH cadre will be preferred.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 45 years as on 3 June 2026.
• Training period, teaching experience, apprenticeship/internship, sabbatical, and extra-ordinary leave will not be counted towards work experience.

Salary

• Monthly consolidated pay: Rs. 75,000 per month.
• Retention Incentive of Rs. 2,000 on completion of every year till the closure of contract.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: If large number of applications are received, candidates will be shortlisted in a ratio not exceeding 6 times the published vacancies based on percentage of marks in essential qualifying exam/graduation.
2. Document Scrutiny: Eligibility check and verification of documents.
3. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be called.
4. Medical Examination: All selected candidates must submit medical test reports before joining. Joining is subject to medical clearance.

• Oversee operation, repair, refit, maintenance, trial and inspection of Naval Ships and Submarines
• Manage steel works including fabrication, erection and welding on naval ships and submarines
• Handle installation and integration of equipment and systems on naval ships under construction
• Carry out setting-to-work, functional trials and harbour trials of engineering, electrical and hull equipment
• Monitor quality assurance during construction of naval ships at HSL and partner yards
• Coordinate with Indian Navy customers, vendors and project teams for project deliverables
• Maintain technical records, daily progress reports and inspection logs
• Undertake outstation duties to Delhi, partner yards or vendor premises whenever required
