DRDO's DMSRDE Kanpur is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) through a walk-in interview. If you have a Post Graduate degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or Polymer Science with NET, or a B.E./B.Tech with NET/GATE, or an M.E./M.Tech in first division, you can attend the interview directly. The walk-in is on 30 June 2026 (Tuesday) at 0900 hrs. You will get a stipend of Rs. 37,000 per month plus contingency grant and HRA.

DMSRDE Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Defence Materials & Stores Research & Development Establishment (DMSRDE), Kanpur — a premier DRDO lab under the Ministry of Defence — is engaging one Junior Research Fellow for an initial period of two years. There is no written exam — selection is purely through a walk-in interview. Freshers with a Master's in basic sciences or an engineering degree in relevant disciplines can apply.

• Junior Research Fellowship: 1 post in Chemistry / Material Science / Polymer Science (or relevant Engineering / Technology disciplines)

The number of vacancies may vary depending upon requirement at the time of walk-in interview. A vacancy may be kept unfilled if no suitable candidate is found.

Who Can Apply?

For Basic Science Candidates:

• Post Graduate degree in Chemistry / Material Science / Polymer Science (basic sciences) in first division
• NET qualification is mandatory

For Engineering / Technology Candidates:

• B.E. / B.Tech in first division in Chemical Engineering or Technology, Material Science & Engineering, or Polymer Science / Engineering / Technology with NET / GATE
• OR M.E. / M.Tech in the relevant discipline in first division at both Graduate and Post Graduate level

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 28 years as on the date of interview
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates (non-creamy layer only)
• OBC candidates in the creamy layer will not be eligible for age relaxation

Salary

• JRF Stipend: Rs. 37,000 per month for the first and second year
• Contingency Grant: Up to Rs. 15,000 per annum (reimbursement basis) for the first two years; may be increased to Rs. 20,000 from the third year onwards
• You will also be eligible for HRA as per Government rules
• JRFs are not eligible for DA, CCA, Bonus, or retirement benefits. Medical facilities are available only for self through the campus MI Room.

Selection Process (Walk-in Interview)

Selection is purely through a walk-in interview. There is no written exam.

1. Document Verification: All original mark sheets, certificates, testimonials, community certificate (if applicable), GATE/NET score card, and a Government ID proof (Aadhaar / Voter ID / PAN / Driving License) must be produced
2. Personal Interview: Conducted by the selection committee at DMSRDE on the walk-in date

Candidates working in Government / PSU / Autonomous bodies must apply through proper channel.

• Contribute to research publications and technical reports under the guidance of the supervisor
• Present research progress in lab meetings and review committees
• Follow DRDO security and confidentiality guidelines for defence research work
