Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) Assistant District Attorney Recruitment 2026 - 255 Posts
Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) has issued a fresh announcement under Advertisement No. 18 of 2025 for the post of Assistant District Attorney (Group-B) in the Prosecution Department, Haryana. After the revised syllabus was issued in compliance with the Hon'ble High Court order in LPA No. 3171 of 2025, the Commission has decided to invite fresh applications from eligible candidates. Candidates who already applied earlier do not need to apply again unless they want to update or change any particulars. The Screening Test will now be held on 05 July 2026 and the Subject Knowledge Test on 09 August 2026.
Who Can Apply?
- Educational Qualification: You must have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Professional) degree from a recognised university.
- Bar Enrolment: You must be enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council.
- Language: You must have studied Hindi or Sanskrit up to Matric (10th) or higher standard.
- Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Maximum age: 42 years (as on the original closing date of Advt. No. 18/2025)
- Age Relaxation: Age relaxation is provided for SC/BC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen as per Haryana Government rules.
Salary
- Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 53,100 to Rs. 1,67,800 per month under Pay Level 9 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
- You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Haryana Government rules.

Selection Process
Selection will be done in three stages:
- Screening Test: Objective-type written test held on 05 July 2026. Used only for shortlisting candidates for the next stage.
- Subject Knowledge Test (SKT): Held on 09 August 2026. Marks count for final merit.
- Interview: Final round. Marks count for final merit.
Final merit will be prepared based on marks in Subject Knowledge Test and Interview only — the Screening Test is qualifying for shortlisting.

Responsibilities
- Conduct prosecution of criminal cases on behalf of the State Government in courts
- Appear in District and Sessions Courts to argue cases for the Prosecution Department
- Examine witnesses and present evidence during criminal trials
- Draft legal opinions, replies and other documents for the Prosecution Department
- Advise police officers on legal aspects of investigation and case preparation
- Maintain records of cases handled and submit periodic reports to senior officers
- Assist District Attorneys and senior law officers in handling complex prosecution matters
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor of Laws (LLB Professional) from a recognised university + enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council + Hindi/Sanskrit up to Matric or higher
Required Skills
Legal drafting, court advocacy, knowledge of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Indian Evidence Act

Exam Pattern
The selection process has three stages:
Stage 1: Screening Test (05 July 2026)
An objective-type written test used only to shortlist candidates for the next stage. Screening Test marks are not counted in the final merit list.
Stage 2: Subject Knowledge Test (09 August 2026)
A detailed written test on legal subjects relevant to the post of Assistant District Attorney. Marks count for final merit.
Stage 3: Interview
Personal interview of shortlisted candidates. Marks count for final merit.
Final merit = Subject Knowledge Test marks + Interview marks
