Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Medical qualification: You need a recognised medical qualification listed under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, now the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.
• Speciality qualification: You need a post-graduate degree in the concerned speciality or an equivalent qualification.
• OBG requirement: The listed qualifications include M.D. or M.S. (Obstetrics and Midwifery), M.S. (Gynaecology), or Speciality Board of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (USA).
• Teaching experience: You need at least 3 years of teaching experience as Lecturer, Registrar, Demonstrator, or Resident after post-graduation in a recognised medical college.
• Eligibility date: Your qualification and experience will be checked as on the closing date of ORA.

Desirable Qualification

• Himachal knowledge: Knowledge of customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh is desirable.
• Research work: Publications in indexed journals are desirable for this teaching post.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is 45 years and below.
• Age will be counted as on 1 January 2026.
• Age relaxation: Bonafide SC / ST / OBC / WFF / PwD candidates of Himachal Pradesh can get up to 5 years relaxation where the category is applicable under rules.
• Ex-servicemen and government employees: Relaxation will follow Himachal Pradesh Government instructions.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a pay scale of Rs. 37,400 to Rs. 67,000 per month.
• The post carries Grade Pay of Rs. 8,900.
• Allowances: DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances will apply as per Himachal Pradesh Government rules.

Selection Process

The HPPSC selection process has written papers followed by a Personality Test. For medical teaching posts, the Commission uses the written-test and interview method given in the advertisement.

1. Paper-I Screening Test: CBT or offline objective test of 1 hour for 100 marks covering Himachal Pradesh GK, national/international GK, Hindi, and English.
2. Paper-II Subject Aptitude Test: Descriptive test of 3 hours for 120 marks in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
3. Document Scrutiny: HPPSC will check uploaded certificates, experience proof, category documents, and ex-servicemen documents wherever applicable.
4. Personality Test: Interview of 30 marks at the HPPSC office in Shimla.

Negative marking applies in the objective paper. For a wrong answer, more than one answer, or a blank answer, 0.25 marks of that question will be deducted. Final ranking will use Paper-II marks plus Personality Test marks.
