• Cut-off for eligibility: Your qualification and experience must be complete by the last date of online application.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is 45 years.
• Age will be counted as on 1 January 2026.
• Age relaxation: Upper age relaxation of 5 years is available for SC, ST, OBC, Persons with Disabilities, and Children / Grand Children of Freedom Fighters of Himachal Pradesh, where applicable under rules.
• Government employees and ex-servicemen: Relaxation is as per Himachal Pradesh Government instructions.

HPPSC will use your matriculation certificate as the age proof, so the date of birth in that certificate is important. Check your age, category, and relaxation claim carefully before final submission because changes are not normally allowed after the application is submitted.

Salary

• Pay scale: Rs. 37,400 to Rs. 67,000.
• Grade Pay: Rs. 8,900.

Selection Process

The HPPSC selection process has written papers followed by a Personality Test. You should prepare for both general screening and subject knowledge.

1. Paper-I Screening Test: CBT or offline objective test of 1 hour for 100 marks. It includes Himachal Pradesh GK, national and international affairs, Hindi, and English.
2. Paper-II Subject Aptitude Test: Descriptive SAT of 3 hours for 120 marks in the concerned subject.
3. Document Scrutiny: HPPSC will check documents and eligibility before moving candidates further in the process.
4. Personality Test: Interview / personality test of 30 marks at the HPPSC office in Shimla.

Paper-I has negative marking, so do not leave answers casually. The notification says a wrong answer, multiple answers, or a blank answer can attract a 0.25 penalty unless you mark the provided no-answer option. Your final ranking is based on the 120-mark Subject Aptitude Test and the 30-mark Personality Test.
