Hindu Rao Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is filling Senior Resident posts at Hindu Rao Hospital and North Delhi Municipal Corporation Medical College in Malka Ganj, Delhi, through a walk-in interview. These are one-year contract posts run under the Government of India Residency Scheme, and they are open to doctors who already hold a PG degree, DNB or diploma in their specialty. There is no written test — you are scored on your PG qualification and a short interview. The drive covers clinical, diagnostic and para-clinical departments, so most freshly qualified specialists will find a matching opening.

Posts and Disciplines

• Anaesthesia: the largest block of openings in this drive.
• General Medicine and General Surgery: big ward-based departments with several seats each.
• Radiology: imaging department openings across categories.
• Forensic Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Paediatrics: a couple of seats in each.
• Blood Bank, Emergency Medicine, Microbiology and Orthopaedics: a single seat in each.
• Dermatology and Psychiatry: listed in the notice but carry no vacancy this time.

One post is set aside for a person with disability (one arm or one leg affected) in a non-surgical branch, depending on who applies. The number of posts can go up or down, or the drive can be withdrawn completely.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: one year, or until the posts are filled by regular specialists through UPSC or on contract by MCD, whichever comes first.
• Senior Residency cap: your total Senior Residency normally cannot go beyond three years, including time in other government hospitals. Doctors who have already done three years can still appear, but they go on a separate list used only after fresh candidates run out, with a hard cap of five years.
• DMC registration: you must hold valid Delhi Medical Council registration on the interview day.
• Reservation: follows Government of India rules; OBC certificates must come from a competent authority of the Government of India, and EWS candidates use the format in Annexure B.
• Working elsewhere: if you are already in service, bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer or you will not be interviewed.
• No private practice: private practice of any kind is not allowed during the residency.
• No transfers: inter-hospital or inter-institution transfer is not permitted.
• Extra duties: the appointing authority can assign any duty when needed, with no extra allowance.
• Misconduct: gross misconduct or negligence leads to termination without notice or pay in lieu.
• False certificates: a fake SC/ST/OBC/EWS claim ends your service and can lead to criminal action.
• No regular claim: the contract gives you no right to a regular appointment. No TA/DA is paid for the interview.

Carry the demand draft or pay order in favour of "Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi", payable at Delhi, along with originals and self-attested photocopies numbered in the order the checklist asks.
