High Court of Punjab and Haryana Clerk Recruitment 2026 - 1265 Posts

The Society for Centralized Recruitment of Staff in Subordinate Courts (SSSC), on behalf of the District and Sessions Judges in the State of Haryana, has released Detailed Employment Notice No. 36C/SSSC/HR/2026 for filling 1265 Clerk posts in the Subordinate Courts of Haryana. This is a direct recruitment that includes 1015 current vacancies (as on 31.12.2025) and 250 anticipated vacancies (up to 30.06.2026). Many of these are backlog vacancies being advertised the 2nd or 3rd time, making this one of the biggest court recruitment opportunities in Haryana in years.

  • Unreserved / General: 141 + 62 = 203
  • SC (Deprived SC): 118 + 24 = 142 (includes 37 backlog)

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree or equivalent from a recognised university.
  • Computer Skills: You must have proficiency in computers — Word Processing and Spread Sheets.
  • Hindi/Sanskrit: You must have passed Matriculation with Hindi or Sanskrit as one subject, OR done +2/BA/MA with Hindi as one subject.
  • Domicile: Reservation benefits apply only to bonafide residents of Haryana with Haryana-issued certificates. Candidates from other states must apply under the General category.
  • Marital Status: Persons in bigamous marriages are not eligible.
  • Cut-off: You must fulfil all eligibility conditions on or before 23 June 2026.

Age Limit

  • Age as on 01 January 2026.
  • General/Unreserved: 18 to 42 years
  • SC / Backward Classes: 18 to 47 years (5 years relaxation)
  • PwD: 18 years up to 10 years relaxation (up to 52 years if PwD belongs to SC/ST/BC/EWS)
  • Ex-servicemen: Age = actual age minus military service + 3 years
  • In-service Government Employees: Up to 45 years
  • Unmarried women / Widows / Legally divorced women / Wives of disabled military personnel: 18 to 47 years (5 years relaxation)
  • Upper Cap: Maximum age cannot exceed 52 years in any case (except for ex-servicemen calculation).

Salary

  • Salary, pay and allowances will be as per the latest rules of the Government of Haryana as adopted for Subordinate Courts of Haryana.
  • As per Haryana Pay Matrix Level 4: starting basic pay around Rs. 25,500 per month plus DA, HRA and other allowances.
  • Plus DA, HRA, Medical Allowance and other allowances as per Haryana Government rules.

Application Fee

  • Male/Female SC/BC/ESM/EWS of Haryana: Rs. 710 (Rs. 550 facilitation + Rs. 160 exam fee)
  • All Other Categories — Male: Rs. 1,200 (Rs. 550 + Rs. 650)
  • All Other Categories — Female: Rs. 875 (Rs. 550 + Rs. 325)
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (Haryana): No fee

Selection Process

Selection happens in 3 stages:

  1. Online Written Examination (Computer Based Test): Total 100 marks in 2 hours. General Knowledge — 50 questions (50 marks, 1 mark each). English Composition — 50 objective questions (20 marks) + Subjective Essay/Letter/Precis/Translation (30 marks). Negative marking: 1/4 mark for each wrong answer in objective portion. Qualifying marks: 33% in each subject AND 40% aggregate.
  2. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): Part-I — Spread Sheet Test (10 marks, 10 minutes) — need 4+ marks. Part-II — Typing Test (30 WPM in English). Qualifying nature — not counted in final merit.
  3. Document Verification & Original Testimonials Check.

Final merit is based on Written Exam (CBT) marks only — CPT is only qualifying. Ties are broken by older age first, then alphabetically.

Responsibilities

  • Handle case file processing, court records and registries for the Subordinate Courts of Haryana
  • Prepare orders, summons, notices and other court documents using word processing software
  • Enter case data into the e-Courts software and maintain digital records
  • Assist judges and presiding officers with daily court work and listings
  • Manage incoming and outgoing dak, court fees, and certified copies
  • Attend court proceedings and prepare order sheets when assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality of court records and follow Haryana Subordinate Courts Service Rules

Exam Pattern

The online Computer Based Test (CBT) has 100 marks and 2 hours duration.

Subject-wise Breakdown

  • General Knowledge (Objective): 50 questions, 50 marks (1 mark each)

  • English Composition (Subjective): 30 marks total — Essay (150 words, 10 marks), Letter (5 marks), Precis (5 marks), Translation Hindi to English (10 marks)

Negative Marking: 1/4 mark deducted for each wrong objective answer.

Qualifying Marks: You must get 33% in each subject AND 40% aggregate. Subjective portion is checked only if you score 33%+ in General Knowledge.

Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): Part-I Spread Sheet Test (10 marks, 10 minutes) — need 4+ marks. Part-II Typing Test at 30 WPM in English. Qualifying only, not counted in final merit.

Final Merit: Based on CBT marks alone. Tie-breaker: older age first, then alphabetical order.
