SSC WR Young Professional (Legal Consultant) Recruitment 2026

Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Regional Office Western Region, Mumbai, under the Department of Personnel & Training, has released a circular for the engagement of 1 Young Professional (Legal Consultant) on a short-term contract. The role involves handling court cases, drafting legal documents and advising SSC (WR) on service and recruitment matters. The last date for receiving applications has been extended up to 31.05.2026 by SSC WR notice dated 07.05.2026. Fresh law graduates from NLSIU or equivalent law schools can apply.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have a Graduate Degree in Law from National Law School of India University (NLSIU) or other Law Schools and Colleges of the country equivalent in length and intensity, with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • Experience: No experience is required (essential). However, 1 year of experience in drafting legal documents, scrutiny, recruitment matters, contract agreements or CAT cases is desirable.

Age Limit

  • Upper age limit: 32 years
  • No minimum age is specified in the notification

Salary

  • Consolidated salary: Rs. 60,000 per month
  • If the contract is extended after satisfactory performance, the salary may go up by 5%, but it cannot exceed 1.25 times the initial amount
  • You will get 1.5 days of leave for every completed month (pro-rata basis)
  • Women consultants are eligible for maternity leave under the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017
  • No DA, HRA, conveyance, medical reimbursement or CGHS benefits are included
  • TA/DA on official tours: Air (Economy) or AC Two Tier rail, hotel up to Rs. 2,250/day, taxi Rs. 338/day, food Rs. 900/day

Selection Process

Selection is based on:

  1. Shortlisting based on qualifications, marks (minimum 60% in Law) and desirable experience
  2. Interview/interaction by the selection committee at SSC WR Mumbai
  3. Police verification as per MHA rules (the contract stays provisional until verification is complete)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor the database of cases pending or decided in CAT, High Courts, Supreme Court and tribunals
  • Draft petitions, replies, rejoinders, affidavits and other legal pleadings for SSC WR
  • Assist SSC WR officers on service matters and recruitment-related legal issues
  • Obtain legal opinions from the Law Ministry and coordinate with senior law officers
  • Scrutinise notices of examination, evaluation of answer books and medical examination matters
  • Analyse and advise on the implementation of court verdicts and orders
  • Review contract agreements and other official documents from a legal viewpoint

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Graduate Degree in Law (LLB) from NLSIU or equivalent Law School/College with a minimum of 60% marks

Preferred Qualification

1 year experience in legal drafting, scrutiny, recruitment matters, contract agreements or CAT cases
