Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Maharatna defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence, is one of the largest aeronautical companies in South-East Asia with 21 production/overhaul/service divisions and 10 Research & Design centres across the country. Its Barrackpore Division is now engaging 27 apprentices for a one-year apprenticeship programme under the Apprentices Act, 1961 (Advertisement No. HR/TRG/2026/06/18). The posts are spread across five trades — Welder, Turner, Machinist, Electrician and Fitter. There is no written test or interview — selection is purely on merit using your 10th and ITI marks. Only freshers who passed their ITI course between 2021 and 2025 can apply. The programme is designed to give you hands-on shop-floor experience that can boost your career in the aerospace and manufacturing sector.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed 10th/HSC/SSC and completed ITI under the Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) in the relevant trade from a recognized institute.
• Passing Year: Only candidates who passed their ITI course in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025 can apply.
• Experience: Candidates with 1 or more years of work experience are not eligible — this is a fresher-only apprenticeship.
• NAPS Status: You must not be currently undergoing, or already registered under, a NAPS apprenticeship contract elsewhere.
• Nationality: Only Indian citizens can apply.
• Reservations: Reservation in engagement of apprentices applies as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and its Rules, and for wards of HAL employees as per HAL Corporate Office guidelines. OBC candidates must produce a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 26 years old as on 24 July 2026 (for General category).
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates get age relaxation as per Government of India guidelines.

Salary

• You will get a monthly stipend paid as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and its Rules. The exact stipend amount is not mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process (No Written Test or Interview)

Selection is based purely on merit:

1. Merit List: Prepared using 70% weightage to your 10th grade marks and 30% weightage to your ITI marks.
2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must bring original certificates for verification at the walk-in.

2. Prepare your original certificates and one set of photocopies.
3. Carry 3 passport-size photographs.
4. Walk in at the Training Auditorium, HAL Barrackpore Division, 9 Topkhana Road, Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas, Kolkata-700120 on 24 July 2026 at 10:00 AM.
5. Appear for document verification and wait for the merit-based selection.

• Assist skilled technicians during production, assembly and maintenance activities
• Attend theoretical and on-the-job training sessions as per the apprenticeship schedule

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work area and tools
• Complete periodic skill assessments and report progress to the training supervisor
