Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB) Sanitary Inspector Class-3 Recruitment 2026 - 22 Posts

GSSSB has released Advertisement No. 455/2026-27 to fill 22 Sanitary Inspector, Class-3 posts under the Office of the Additional Director, Medical Education and Research, Gandhinagar (Health and Family Welfare Department). The 22 posts are split as 10 Unreserved, 6 SEBC, 3 ST, 2 EWS and 1 SC, with sub-quotas reserved for women and ex-servicemen within each category. Selection is through a single competitive written exam — there is no interview.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed Higher Secondary (12th/HSSC) plus either a minimum 1-year Health Sanitary Inspector's Diploma from a recognized institute, or a minimum 1-year certificate course in Health Sanitary Inspector's work from an ITI or recognized institute.
• Computer Knowledge: Basic computer knowledge as prescribed under Gujarat Civil Services rules is required. If you do not hold a certificate, you can still apply, but you must clear a computer proficiency test before appointment.
• Language: You must have adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi (or both).
• Equivalent 12th qualifications: A 2-year ITI course after 10th (NCVT/GCVT, with English pass in 12th or Gujarat Open School) or a 3-year Polytechnic Diploma after 10th are also treated as equivalent to 12th pass for this recruitment.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 33 years old as on 31 August 2026.
• Age Relaxation: General category women and reserved category men get 5 years (up to 38 years); reserved category women get 10 years (up to 43 years); general category PwD men get 10 years (up to 43 years); general category PwD women get 15 years (up to 45 years); reserved category PwD men get 15 years (up to 45 years); reserved category PwD women get 20 years (capped at 45 years).
• Ex-servicemen: Upper age limit relaxed by the length of military service plus 3 years.

Salary

• You will get a fixed pay of Rs. 26,000 per month for the first 5 years of service.
• After 5 years of satisfactory service, you will be regularly appointed on the 7th Pay Commission Pay Level-4 scale of Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 per month, subject to applicable Supreme Court orders (SLP No. 14124/2012 and 14125/2012).
• Other allowances will apply as per government resolutions in force.

• Reserved category (all women, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD and Ex-servicemen): Rs. 400
• The fee is refunded to candidates who appear for the exam.
• Payment mode: Online only, via debit card, internet banking, UPI or wallets.

Selection Process

Selection is done through a single competitive written exam, followed by document verification:

1. Written Exam (CBRT/OMR, MCQ type): Held in two parts — Part-A has 90 questions/marks covering reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and general knowledge/Gujarati-English comprehension; Part-B has 120 questions/marks on subject-related topics. Total 210 questions for 210 marks in 3 hours (180 minutes). Negative marking of 1/4 mark applies per wrong answer. You need a minimum of 40% marks in both Part-A and Part-B to qualify — this cutoff applies to all categories.
2. Document Verification: Candidates are called for certificate verification based on the provisional merit list, at roughly twice the number of category-wise vacancies.
3. Final Selection List: Prepared based on merit after document verification, along with a waiting list.

The exam is expected to be held around December 2026 (exact date to be announced). Selected candidates must undergo departmental training and pass the training exam after appointment.
