The Directorate of Health Services, Government of Goa, has invited applications for non-ex-officio Member posts in the Goa State Mental Health Authority under sections 45 and 46(1) of the Mental Health Care Act, 2017. The posts cover eight different categories, ranging from psychiatrists and clinical psychologists to representatives of persons with mental illness and care-giver organisations. This is a great opportunity for senior professionals and advocates working in the mental health field in Goa.

• Eminent Psychiatrist (not in govt service): 1 post
• Mental Health Professional (Ayurveda/Homoeopathy/Unani/Siddha PG): 1 post
• Psychiatric Social Worker: 1 post
• Clinical Psychologist: 1 post
• Mental Health Nurse: 1 post
• Persons who have or have had mental illness (representatives): 2 posts
• Care-givers of persons with mental illness (representatives): 2 posts
• NGO representatives serving persons with mental illness: 2 posts

Who Can Apply?

For Psychiatrist Member

• An eminent psychiatrist from the State of Goa, not in Government service

For Mental Health Professional Member

• Postgraduate degree in Ayurveda (Mano Vigyan Avum Manas Roga) OR Homoeopathy (Psychiatry) OR Unani (Moalijat / Nafasiyatt) OR Siddha (Sirappu Maruthuvam)
• Minimum 15 years experience in the field

For Psychiatric Social Worker Member

• PG degree in Social Work + M.Phil in Psychiatric Social Work (2-year full-time course with supervised clinical training from a UGC-recognised university)
• Minimum 15 years experience in the field

For Clinical Psychologist Member

• Recognised qualification in Clinical Psychology approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India, OR
• PG degree in Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Applied Psychology + M.Phil in Clinical Psychology or Medical and Social Psychology (2-year course, UGC-recognised)
• Minimum 15 years experience in the field

For Mental Health Nurse Member

• Diploma or degree in General Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing recognised by the Nursing Council of India
• Registered with the relevant State Nursing Council
• Minimum 15 years experience in the field

For Other Member Categories

• Two posts each for: persons with mental illness, care-givers / care-giver organisations, and NGOs serving persons with mental illness
• Specific qualification not prescribed — selection is based on representation merit

• You must be a citizen of India
• Maximum age limit is 70 years for all categories

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 70 years (not exceeding) for all member categories
• No minimum age specified in the notification

Salary

• The notification does not specify remuneration. These are statutory member positions on the State Mental Health Authority, so honorarium and sitting fees will be as per Goa Government rules.

Selection Process

Selection is based on:

1. Document Verification: Self-attested copies of qualification and experience certificates are checked against the eligibility criteria.
2. Merit-based shortlisting: The Chief Executive Officer of GSMHA reviews applications and shortlists candidates as per Mental Health Care Act, 2017 provisions.

There is no written exam for these member posts.

5. Send a soft copy of the same application by email to ceo-gsmha@goa.gov.in.
6. Submit before the cut-off date — applications received after the cutoff will not be considered.

• Help frame guidelines for protection of rights of persons with mental illness
• Support training and awareness programmes organised by the Authority
