JIPMER Senior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry has released advertisement no. ANRF/ARG/Biochem/Rec-1/2026 dated 06.05.2026 for one SRF post. The position is funded by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under the Advanced Research Grant (ARG) scheme. The project, led by Dr. Medha Rajappa, focuses on developing a chip to predict steroid responsiveness in children with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome using whole transcriptomics. There is also scope for project-based PhD registration with the PI as Supervisor, subject to JIPMER guidelines.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• You must have a first-class post graduate degree (including integrated PG degrees with two years' experience) OR a Post Graduate degree in professional courses OR a PhD.
• Disciplines: Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or Bioinformatics.

Desirable

• Qualification in NET, GATE or national-level exam by DBT, UGC, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.
• Experience in phlebotomy and handling human samples.
• Lab skills: RNA extraction, cDNA conversion, qPCR, ELISA, LC-MS, sequencing sample preparation.
• Bioinformatics skills: genomic data handling, alignment, R/Python analysis, GO/KEGG pathway analysis.
• Computer skills (MS Office), good communication, scientific writing with peer-reviewed publications.
• Trained in GLP and ethics for research with human participants.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 30 years
• Age relaxation may be considered at the discretion of the Principal Investigator as per project rules.

Salary

• Consolidated remuneration: Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA at 20% (Rs. 8,400) = Rs. 50,400 per month
• No other allowances or facilities will be given beyond the consolidated salary.
• Project duration: 3 years (initial appointment for 6 months, extension based on performance).

Selection Process

Selection is based on:

2. Written Test: Syllabus related to the eligibility disciplines and expected roles.
3. Interview: Same area as the written test. May be conducted in person or by video conferencing.

Final selection is based on CV, application, and performance in the written test/interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending.

• Implement the overall project workplan and assist the Project Lead in management and execution
• Supervise laboratory research work and coordinate sample collection and processing as per study protocol
• Maintain study records, data entry, patient follow-up coordination, and clinical visit assistance
• Harmonize lab SOPs for biological specimen collection, storage, quality checks, and lab experiments
• Communicate with ANRF and research committees for protocol amendments and annual reports
• Conduct periodic audits, prepare research reports, manuscripts, and data analysis
• Coordinate with the collaborating DBT institute for clinical data integration and transcriptome analysis
• Travel occasionally to the collaborating institute for joint research and training activities
