Goa University PhD Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

Goa University, the state public university at Taleigao Plateau, Goa, is hiring a full-time PhD Fellow and a full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow for a project under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme, funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The research is in Electronics and IT, and the project is led by Prof. Joyti D. Pawar as Principal Investigator and Nodal Officer.

Both openings are project-based fellowships, not regular university jobs. Besides the monthly fellowship, the scheme adds a contingency grant and travel support — the PhD fellowship also covers rent and a visit to a lab abroad. Posts and Disciplines

• PhD Fellow: for master's degree holders in Electronics Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Instrumentation, Biophysics or engineering in ECE/ETC, Computer Science and Engineering, Data or AI. A GATE, NET or MPhil qualification counts in your favour.
• Post-Doctoral Fellow: for PhD holders in the same subjects who want to work on research themes such as EEG data, data communication, Natural Language Processing and embedded system instrumentation.
• Skills both posts value: working experience in machine learning, neural networks and deep learning, the ability to reproduce results from published research papers, and experience on large real-time projects.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The PhD fellowship runs for five years or until you complete your PhD, whichever is earlier; the post-doctoral position runs for one year.
• Immediate joining: This is a time-bound project, so the selected candidate must join immediately and work full-time on it.
• Employed candidates: If you work anywhere now (private, government or other), bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer to the interview.
• No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview or for joining.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the qualification does not guarantee a call; candidates are shortlisted on merit and project need, and test or interview dates are sent by e-mail only.
• Rules: All terms follow the MeitY guidelines for the scheme. Incomplete or late forms are rejected outright.
