Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Alibag, Raigad under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai, has announced recruitment for 12 Professor and 9 Associate Professor posts through a centralised selection process on contractual basis for 364 days. This is a walk-in interview recruitment with no written exam — selection is based on academic merit, teaching experience, research publications, and interview. The college was established in 2021-22 and is the only government medical college in Raigad district, Maharashtra.

Who Can Apply?

For Professor Posts

• Qualification: MS/MD/MCh/DNB in the concerned subject. For pre-clinical subjects (Anatomy, Physiology), MBBS with M.Sc. in Medical Anatomy/Physiology with Ph.D. or D.Sc. is also accepted.
• Experience: Associate Professor in the subject for 3 years in a permitted or recognised medical college or institution.
• Research: At least 4 research publications (at least 2 as Associate Professor) in indexed journals (PubMed Central, Science Citation Index, Scopus, DOAJ, etc.).
• Biomedical Research: Must have completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research from NMC-designed institutions.

For Associate Professor Posts

• Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned subject. For Obstetrics & Gynaecology, M.D. or M.S. (O&G) or DNB is accepted.
• Experience: Assistant Professor in the subject for 4 years in a permitted or recognised medical college or institution.
• Research: At least 2 research publications in indexed journals.
• Biomedical Research: Must have completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research from NMC-designed institutions.
• Special Training: 3 years of special training in the respective new broad specialty subject in a teaching institution or centre of excellence.
• Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) is also required.

General Requirements

• Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen and a Maharashtra domicile.
• Registration: Your name must be registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council under the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act 1961 or the National Medical Commission.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 65 years as on 03 December 2025.
• No minimum age is specified.

Salary

• Professor: Rs. 2,00,000 per month (consolidated, contractual)
• Associate Professor: Rs. 1,45,000 per month (consolidated, contractual)
• Salary is as per Government Decision dated 01/02/2022 and 29/01/2024.
• Note: This is a contractual appointment for 364 days. No additional allowances like DA or HRA are mentioned.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on merit through document verification and interview. Total marks: 100.

1. Qualification (50 marks):
   • MS/MD/MCh/DNB: 10 marks
   • MBBS aggregate: up to 20 marks (65-70%: 20 marks, 60-65%: 15 marks, 55-60%: 10 marks, 50-55%: 5 marks)
   • XII aggregate: up to 20 marks (70-80%: 20 marks, 60-70%: 15 marks, 50-60%: 10 marks, 40-50%: 5 marks)
2. Additional Qualification (5 marks): DNB/CPS/PhD/Fellowship in the concerned subject.
3. Teaching Experience (20 marks): Mandatory. Based on years of teaching in the concerned specialty.
4. Research Paper Publication (10 marks): Mandatory. Based on number and quality of published papers in indexed journals.
5. Interview (15 marks): Candidates with minimum 45% or more out of 85 marks in document verification will be called for interview. Selection committee will shortlist 3x candidates per post.

Final merit = Qualification + Additional Qualification + Teaching Experience + Research Publications + Interview (total 100 marks).

5. Carry all original documents to the interview on 22 April 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Parishad Hall, GMCH Alibag.
