Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Alibag, District Raigad, under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Maharashtra, has announced recruitment for 19 Assistant Professor posts on a contractual basis for 365 days. The vacancies are spread across 11 medical disciplines including General Medicine, General Surgery, Community Medicine, Anesthesiology, Forensic Medicine, and more. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification (as per NMC Norms)

• Basic Degree: MBBS from a recognised university/institution
• Postgraduate Degree: MD/MS/DNB in the relevant subject from a recognised institution
• Registration: You must have permanent registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) or Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC). Your registration must be current and valid (renewed).

• Anatomy: M.S. (Anatomy) / M.D. Anatomy / MBBS with M.Sc. (Anatomy) / M.Sc. (Medical Anatomy) with Ph.D. / M.Sc. Medical Anatomy with D.Sc. / DNB
• Physiology: M.D. (Physiology) / MBBS with M.Sc. (Medical Physiology) / M.Sc. (Medical Physiology) with Ph.D. / D.Sc. Medical Physiology / DNB
• Forensic Medicine & Toxicology: MD/DNB in Forensic Medicine
• General Medicine: MD/DNB in General Medicine
• Psychiatry: MD/DNB in Psychiatry
• General Surgery: MS/DNB in General Surgery
• Anesthesiology: MD/DNB in Anesthesiology
• Emergency Medicine: MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine

Experience

• Option 1: One year as Senior Resident in the relevant subject at a recognised/permitted medical college after getting your MD/MS degree
• Option 2: Three years as Junior Resident in a recognised medical college in the relevant subject, plus one year as Senior Resident in a recognised/permitted medical college. DNB candidates equated to MD/MS as per NMC Clause 4A of Schedule-1. In addition, 3 years teaching experience as Resident/Registrar/Demonstrator/Tutor. Work experience during DNB training counts, plus one year as Senior Resident in a recognised medical college.
• Mandatory: 1 year Senior Resident service experience is compulsory

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 40 years for General/Open category candidates
• Maximum age: 45 years for Reserved category candidates (as per Maharashtra Government relaxation rules)

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a fixed salary of Rs. 1,00,000 per month (as per Maharashtra Government decision dated 31/12/2020).
• This is a contractual appointment for 365 days. The salary is consolidated and fixed — no separate DA, HRA or other allowances.
• Note: After 365 days, the contract may be renewed for another 365-day period subject to service break as per government rules.

Selection Process (Walk-in Interview)

There is no written exam. Selection is based on merit and interview:

1. Application Screening: Your application and documents will be verified by the selection committee
2. Merit List: A merit list will be prepared based on your educational qualification marks and experience
3. Walk-in Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear for an interview at GMC Alibag on 22 April 2026 at 11:00 AM
4. Document Verification: You must bring all original documents and their self-attested photocopies

If suitable candidates are not found through this advertisement, walk-in interviews will be conducted every alternate Wednesday for the next two months.

7. Last date to submit: 20 April 2026 (excluding holidays).
8. Appear for the walk-in interview on 22 April 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same venue.
