Who Can Apply?

For Professor (Academic Pay Level 14)

  • Qualification: Ph.D. in the relevant subject with a good academic record as per UGC Regulations 2018
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of teaching and/or research experience, of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Associate Professor
  • Research: Published work of high quality, with a minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • API Score: Must meet the API criteria as per UGC Regulations

For Associate Professor (Academic Pay Level 13A)

  • Qualification: Ph.D. in the relevant field with good academic record
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience, with at least total 6-8 research publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • API Score: As prescribed by UGC

For Assistant Professor (Academic Pay Level 10)

  • Qualification: Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the relevant subject from a recognised university
  • NET/SET: Must have cleared NET/SLET/SET or hold a Ph.D. as per UGC Regulations 2009 (amended)
  • For AI & ML department: B.E./B.Tech/B.S. and M.E./M.Tech/M.S. or equivalent in relevant branch with first class

For Physical Education posts

  • Eligibility as per UGC Regulations plus NCTE Regulations 2014 and amendments

For Education (ITEP) post

  • Eligibility as per Appendix-15 of NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) Amendment Regulations, 2021

Note: For the Department of Applied Agriculture, additional qualifications such as Master's degree and Ph.D. in Agribusiness or Food Technology/Food Science are required for the post of Professor.

Age Limit

  • No age limit mentioned for Professor and Associate Professor posts.
  • Maximum age: 64 years — no candidate beyond 64 years of age will be considered for a regular appointment.
  • The superannuation age for all posts is 65 years as per UGC norms.
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/EWS candidates who wish to apply for any unreserved post will not get any relaxation in marks/degrees/diploma/NET etc. and age etc.

Salary

  • Professor: Entry pay of Rs. 1,44,200 per month in Academic Pay Level 14 as per 7th CPC
  • Associate Professor: Entry pay of Rs. 1,31,100 per month in Academic Pay Level 13A as per 7th CPC
  • Assistant Professor: Entry pay of Rs. 57,700 per month in Academic Pay Level 10 as per 7th CPC
  • You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Central Government rules
  • Higher initial pay may be considered for exceptionally qualified and deserving candidates if recommended by the selection committee.

  • SC / ST / PwBD / Women: No fee (exempted from application fee)

  • Previously applied candidates for AI & ML posts (Advt. CUPB/25-26/008 dated 10.11.2025, now withdrawn) are exempted from the application fee for those posts.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on academic merit and interview. There is no written exam.

  1. API Score Calculation: Shortlisting for interview will be based on the Academic Performance Indicator (API) scores calculated as per UGC Regulations. For one post, top 25 candidates are shortlisted; for two posts, top 35 candidates are shortlisted for each category.
  2. Document Verification: Candidates must produce original documents at the time of the interview. The experience certificate must certify date of joining, date of relieving (if any), initial designation, current designation, pay scale, and date of promotion (if any).
  3. Interview: The selection process may be a presentation, seminar, interview, or a combination. The interview can be conducted in-person or via video-conferencing.

Note: Merely fulfilling eligibility conditions will not entitle any candidate to be called for interview. Stringent criteria will be applied for short-listing.

  • Teach assigned subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level as per the approved curriculum
  • Prepare course material, lesson plans, question papers, and evaluation schemes
  • Guide M.Phil. and Ph.D. students in their research work
  • Conduct research and publish papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals
  • Participate in university committees, academic bodies, and administrative activities
  • Mentor students in academic matters and career guidance
  • Organize and attend workshops, seminars, and conferences
  • Assist in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and examination duties

API Score Components (for Professor & Associate Professor)

  • Academic/Research Score: Calculated as per UGC Regulations 2018 (Table 2 of Appendix II)
  • Teaching Experience: Verified with salary slips and joining/relieving letters
  • Research Publications: Published in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals

For Assistant Professor

  • Shortlisting criteria: As per Table 3A of Appendix II, UGC Regulations 2018
  • NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D.: Mandatory qualification along with Master's degree
