Government Dental College & Hospital, Jalgaon, under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Government of Maharashtra, has released a notification to fill 12 Assistant Professor posts across 9 dental specializations on a purely temporary, contractual basis. These posts are for a fixed period of up to 364 days and carry a flat monthly honorarium instead of a regular pay scale. GDC Jalgaon is one of the four government dental colleges in Maharashtra, along with those in Mumbai, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nagpur. Both fresh MDS graduates and experienced dental faculty can apply for the subject of their specialization.

Note: The number of posts in each subject may change, and the Dean of the college has full authority over this.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a postgraduate degree (MDS) in the relevant subject, or an equivalent qualification, recognized by the National Dental Commission/Dental Council of India.
• Registration: You must be registered under the Dentists Act, 1948, and hold a valid registration with the Maharashtra State Dental Council, Mumbai.
• Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen.
• Fitness: You should be physically and mentally fit for the post. Selected candidates must submit a medical fitness certificate from a medical board and a character certificate from a competent authority.

Age Limit

• You should not be more than 40 years old as on the last date of application submission or the walk-in interview.
• Age Relaxation: Backward category candidates get a 5-year relaxation in the upper age limit.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a fixed honorarium of Rs. 1,00,000 per month.
• No other allowances or financial benefits are payable apart from this fixed honorarium.

Selection Process

The selection will be done as follows:

1. For Bond-Service Candidates: Selection is based on merit rank among bond-service candidates who meet the National Dental Commission/Dental Council of India eligibility norms.
2. For Other Candidates: An interview will be conducted as per Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik / National Dental Commission / Dental Council of India norms, and the final selection is based on merit after the interview.

The list of candidates eligible for interview will be published on 1 September 2026 on the college notice board and website. If the interview date changes, the updated date will be published on the same channels.

Terms of Engagement: This is a purely temporary, contract-based engagement for a maximum of 364 days or until a regular candidate joins the post, whichever is earlier. The engagement can end early if the Maharashtra Public Service Commission nominates a regular candidate, a bond-service candidate becomes available, or a regular faculty member is transferred or promoted to the post. Contract appointees are only entitled to casual leave and get no service benefits or right to regular appointment. Your work will be reviewed every three months by your department head, and unsatisfactory performance can lead to immediate termination. The Dean reserves the right to change the number of posts or cancel the advertisement at any stage.

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate dental students in your subject of specialization
• Conduct clinical demonstrations and supervise students during patient treatment
• Provide patient care and treatment in the college hospital's OPD
• Evaluate student performance through internal assessments and practical exams
• Maintain treatment records and case files as per council guidelines
• Guide postgraduate students with their research, thesis and case presentations
• Participate in academic and administrative duties assigned by the Dean
• Follow DCI/NDC and Maharashtra State Dental Council quality standards
