The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is filling 2 posts — one Senior Private Secretary and one Private Secretary — on a deputation basis at its New Delhi headquarters. These are central government positions open only to serving Stenographers and Private Secretaries under Central Government departments who meet specific service criteria. The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, has issued a vacancy circular for filling up posts of Senior Private Secretary (1 post) and Private Secretary (1 post) on deputation basis at its offices across India. This is a rolling vacancy circular — applications received by the last day of each month are considered for selection in the following month, and the process continues until all vacancies are filled. ED offices can be anywhere in India, so the selected person may be posted at any ED office across the country.

Who Can Apply?

These posts are open only to Stenographers working under the Central Government. You must meet one of the following conditions:

For Senior Private Secretary (Level-8):

  • Holding an analogous post (Private Secretary, Level-7) on a regular basis in your parent department; OR
  • Having five years of regular service at Level-7 (Private Secretary level) or equivalent in the pay matrix

For Private Secretary (Level-7):

  • Holding an analogous post (Private Secretary, Level-7) on a regular basis in your parent department; OR
  • Having five years of regular service at Level-6 (Senior Stenographer level) or equivalent in the pay matrix

Note: Officers who are in the direct line of promotion in their feeder category are not eligible for deputation. Similarly, existing deputationists are not eligible for consideration for appointment by promotion.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 56 years as on the closing date of the month in which the application is received
  • No minimum age is specified (since this is for serving government employees)

Salary

  • Senior Private Secretary: Rs. 47,600 to Rs. 1,51,100 per month (Pay Level-8, 7th CPC)
  • Private Secretary: Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month (Pay Level-7, 7th CPC)
  • Special Incentive Allowance: 20% of Basic Pay (additional benefit for ED staff at Private Secretary level)
  • Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules
  • Pay and allowances regulated as per DoPT O.M. No. 6/8/2009-Estt (Pay-II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time

Selection Process

This is a deputation-based recruitment — there is no written exam. Selection works as follows:

  1. Application Review: Complete applications received by the last day of each month are considered for selection in the subsequent month.
  2. Cadre Clearance Verification: Your Cadre Controlling Authority must verify and certify that you meet the eligibility criteria and have no pending disciplinary or vigilance cases.
  3. Merit-based Selection: Suitable officers are selected based on their ACR/APAR grading and service record.
  4. Document Verification: CR dossier for the last five years, Cadre Clearance, Vigilance Certificate, Integrity Certificate, and penalty statement for the last 10 years are reviewed.

The deputation period (including any previous deputation) shall ordinarily not exceed three years.

Responsibilities

  • Handle correspondence, file management, and secretarial support for senior officers of the Directorate
  • Prepare and transcribe dictation, draft letters, notes, and official documents as directed
  • Manage the officer's diary, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing correspondence and ensure timely follow-up on action points
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive investigation-related documents and communications
  • Assist in preparation of reports, presentations, and official submissions
  • Coordinate with other ministries, departments, and ED offices on administrative matters

Serving Stenographer/Private Secretary under Central Government holding analogous post or with 5 years' service in the feeder grade
