East Coast Railway (ECoR), Khurda Road Division is filling up 4 Junior Engineer (C&W) posts in the Mechanical (C&W) Department under 25% Intermediate Apprentice Quota (IAQ). This is a departmental selection only — it is open to regular Technicians (C&W) of the Mechanical (C&W) Department in Pay Level-2, Level-4, Level-5 and Level-6 with at least 3 years of continuous Railway service. The post carries Pay Level-6 as per 7th CPC (Rs. 35,400 - Rs. 1,12,400). The last date to submit applications is 5 June 2026.

East Coast Railway has issued Notification No. DRM(P)/KUR/Mech(C&W)/JE(C&W)/25% IAQ/CBT NOTICE/2026 dated 15.05.2026 for filling up 4 vacancies of Junior Engineer (C&W) in Level-6 in the Mechanical (C&W) Department of Khurda Road Division (KUR), ECoR. This is an internal departmental promotion — only regular serving Railway employees can volunteer. Out of 4 vacancies, 1 post is reserved for PwBD (OH category).

Who Can Apply?
- Service Eligibility: You must be a regular Technician (C&W) of the Mechanical (C&W) Department in Pay Level-2, Level-4, Level-5 or Level-6 of ECoR/KUR.
- Length of Service: You must have completed 3 years of continuous Railway service in skilled grade as on the date of notification (15.05.2026).
- Educational Qualification (any one):
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering branch (including their sub-stream branches) as per RBE No. 81/2025; OR
- ITI / Act apprenticeship in the relevant trade; OR
- 10+2 Science (as per RBE No. 145/2003)
- Medical Standard: You should be fit in B1 (Bee-One) medical classification.
- For employees who joined KUR division on transfer-on-request basis, length of service will be counted as per RBE No. 34/2006 and RBE No. 99/2006.
Age Limit
- Upper age limit: 47 years as on date of notification (15.05.2026)
- As per RBE No. 117/2006, the cut-off date for determining eligibility is the date of issue of notification (15.05.2026). Volunteering employees must fulfil the eligibility conditions as on this date.
Salary
- Pay Level-6 as per 7th Central Pay Commission: Rs. 35,400 - Rs. 1,12,400 per month
- You will also get DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and other allowances as per Railway rules.

Selection Process
Selection will be done in the following stages:
- Written Examination (CBT/TBT Mode): Computer/Tablet Based Test with 110 objective MCQs (you answer maximum 100 questions; 10 questions on Rajbhasha are optional). Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes). Both Hindi and English. Negative marking: 1/3 of allotted marks for every wrong answer. You must score minimum 60% marks to qualify.
- Scrutiny of Service Record and last 3 years' APARs: Only those who score 60% or more in written test will move to this stage.
- SPE/Vigilance/D&AR Clearance: You must be free from any pending vigilance or disciplinary case.
- Medical Examination: You must pass the prescribed B1 medical standard.
Final panel: Drawn from candidates who score minimum 60% in the written test and 60% in the aggregate of "Record of Service" (last 3 years APARs). No relaxation in marks for SC/ST. No supplementary examination.

Responsibilities
- Handle preventive and corrective maintenance of freight and coaching stock
- Supervise PME of CC rakes, Premium rakes, and intensive examination of goods trains
- Manage ROH of air brake wagons and rake testing operations
- Oversee maintenance schedules of coaching stock, air brake systems, and passenger amenities
- Investigate train parting, hot axle, brake binding incidents and prepare reports
- Monitor working of vacuum brake and air brake systems including Bogie Mounted Brake System (BMBS)
- Maintain records, stock items, and prepare procurement proposals under PH-21, PH-41, PH-42
- Ensure compliance with safety norms and Railway Board circulars in C&W operations
