The Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance is filling 17 posts of Registrar, Assistant Registrar and Recovery Officer on deputation basis in Debts Recovery Tribunals (DRTs) and the Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT) located across India. Only serving Central/State Government, Court/Tribunal or Public Sector Bank officers holding the required grade or years of service can apply — this is not open to fresh candidates. Applications must reach DFS through the proper channel (your employer) by 08 September 2026. Pay ranges from Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month (parent pay plus deputation allowance) depending on the post.
DRTs/DRATs Registrar, Assistant Registrar & Recovery Officer Recruitment 2026 - 17 Posts
The Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance has issued a vacancy circular (No. 08/18/2026-DRT, dated 10 August 2026) to fill 4 Registrar, 2 Assistant Registrar and 11 Recovery Officer posts on deputation in various Debts Recovery Tribunals across India. This circular was also forwarded to the Gujarat High Court and other High Courts for wide publicity among eligible judicial and government officers. Recovery Officer has the highest number of vacancies (11) among the three posts. Selected officers can be posted at any DRT/DRAT location irrespective of their preference, for a deputation tenure of four years.

The Registrar vacancies are at DRT Kolkata, Madurai, Chennai and Cuttack. The Assistant Registrar vacancies are at DRT Cuttack and Chandigarh. The Recovery Officer vacancies are spread across DRTs at Chennai, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Kolkata, Patna and Siliguri. The number of vacancies and locations may change without further notice, and you may be posted against any vacant post regardless of your choice.
Who Can Apply?
For Registrar (Level 12):
- You should be holding an analogous post on a regular basis in your parent cadre or department, OR
- Have 5 years of regular service in Level 11 (Rs. 67,700-2,08,700) or equivalent, OR
- Be a Public Sector Bank officer in Scale V, or Scale IV with 5 years of regular service
For Assistant Registrar and Recovery Officer (Level 11):
- You should be holding an analogous post on a regular basis, OR
- Have 5 years of service as Section Officer in Level 9, 6 years in Level 8, or 7 years in Level 7, OR
- Be a Public Sector Bank officer in Scale IV, or Scale III with 5 years of regular service
Desirable for all three posts: Experience in legal or judicial work.
Age Limit
- You should not be more than 56 years old as on the closing date of application, 08 September 2026.
Salary
- Selected officers will draw their parent pay plus deputation allowance — Rs. 78,800 to Rs. 2,09,200 per month (Level 12) for Registrar, and Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month (Level 11) for Assistant Registrar and Recovery Officer, under the 7th Central Pay Commission matrix.
- Deputation allowance and other perks will be governed by DoPT rules (OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay II) dated 17.06.2010, as amended).
Selection Process
This is a deputation posting, so the process works differently from a normal recruitment:
- Application through Proper Channel: You apply through your Cadre Controlling Authority, not directly.
- Document Verification: Your Vigilance clearance, integrity certificate, and 5 years of ACR/APAR records are checked.
- Selection by DFS: The Department of Financial Services finalises the panel based on eligibility and service records.

- Attach your Vigilance clearance, integrity certificate, major/minor penalty certificate and ACR/APAR copies for the last five years.
- Submit the application to your Cadre Controlling Authority — do not send it directly.
- Your Cadre Controlling Authority forwards it to the Department of Financial Services, Jeevan Deep Building, Sansad Marg, New Delhi before the deadline.
Applications reaching after the last date, with incomplete documents, or not sent through the proper channel will not be considered.

Responsibilities
- Manage case filing, listing and registry operations of the Debts Recovery Tribunal/Appellate Tribunal
- Maintain records of recovery certificates, orders and case files
- Assist the Presiding Officer/Chairperson in day-to-day tribunal administration
- Supervise recovery proceedings and execution of recovery certificates against defaulters
- Coordinate with banks, financial institutions and legal counsel on pending recovery cases
- Ensure compliance with tribunal rules, timelines and administrative procedures
- Handle correspondence and reporting to the Department of Financial Services
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Central/State Government, Court/Tribunal or Public Sector Bank officers holding an analogous grade or the requisite years of service in the feeder grade (see Who Can Apply section for post-wise details)
