The Defence Materials and Stores Research & Development Establishment (DMSRDE) is one of the premier laboratories of DRDO, located on GT Road, Kanpur. DMSRDE invites applications from final-year engineering and science students with an excellent academic record for a 6-month research internship. The total number of seats is capped at 20 across all branches, with the exact numbers per branch decided by the establishment. Only Indian citizens can apply.

Vacancy Breakdown by Discipline

Category (a) — Final-year B.Tech (UG) / M.Tech / PG in Engineering:

• Branch Code 01 — Computer Science Engineering / IT / Artificial Intelligence / Computer Engineering: 4 seats
• Branch Code 02 — Chemical Engineering / Polymer Science & Technology / Materials Science Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Textile Engineering: 12 seats

Category (b) — Final-year M.Sc (2nd year):

• Branch Code PG 01 — Chemistry / Material Science / Textile: 4 seats

These numbers are indicative and may go up or down, but the total is capped at 20 seats.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be a final-year student pursuing a full-time UG or PG course in engineering or science in the relevant discipline from a recognised Indian University/Institute.
• Academic record: You need 65% or above marks (or 6.5+ CGPA) from an AICTE/UGC-approved college or university.
• Recommendation: Your Dean/HOD/Director/Principal must send a request letter for the internship.
• Nationality: Only Indian citizens can apply.

Age Limit

• You must be below 28 years of age as on 15 June 2026.

Stipend

• You will get a stipend of Rs. 5,000 per month for the 6-month internship.
• Payment is made in two installments — the first after 3 months and the second after completing 6 months.
• The stipend goes directly into your bank account. You must be present at the lab for at least 15 working days per month to be eligible.
• No boarding or lodging expenses are provided.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is fully merit-based:

1. Academic Merit: Students with good academic records (65%+ marks or 6.5+ CGPA) are shortlisted.
2. CGPA / Online Interview / Interaction: Selection is based on CGPA and an online interview or interaction, as required.
3. Document Verification: Final selection is subject to satisfactory verification of your documents.

How to Apply

1. Fill the application form (page 1 of the notification) and get a request letter from your college Principal/Director.
2. Attach your High School marksheet, all previous course marksheets, college photo ID, bio-data, and the Official Secrets Act & IT Rules undertaking.
3. Send an advance copy by email to director.dmsrde@gov.in on or before 15 June 2026.
4. Send the hard copy of all documents by Speed Post or by hand at the DMSRDE Main Gate. Write 'Application for Paid Internship' and your 'Branch Code' clearly on the envelope.

6. Submit before 15 June 2026, 1500 hrs. Late applications will not be accepted.

• Work on assigned engineering or science research projects at DMSRDE Kanpur
• Follow all DMSRDE lab rules, security, and administrative procedures
• Maintain confidentiality under the Official Secrets Act 1923 and IT rules
• Handle lab equipment carefully and report any damage
• Submit a project report and clear the project evaluation
• Attend the lab for at least 15 working days every month
• Keep mobile phones, pen drives, and laptops out of the campus as per rules
