DRDO DIBT Mysuru Paid Internship Scheme 2026-27

The Defence Institute of Biodefence Technologies (DIBT) is a specialised research centre under DRDO, Ministry of Defence, located at Siddarthanagar, Mysuru. Under the Government of India internship scheme, DIBT invites final-year M.Sc students to do a 6-month hands-on research internship in defence-related biotechnology and microbiology. Only Indian citizens studying in India can apply — students who studied or are studying abroad are not eligible. This is a great chance for science students to gain real lab experience at a top defence research lab.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be studying your final year of M.Sc (Biotechnology or Microbiology) in the 2026-27 academic year at a recognised Indian University or Institute.
• Academic record: You need a good academic record with 85% or more marks, or a CGPA above 8.5 on a 10-point scale.
• Nationality: Only Indian citizens can apply. Students who studied or are studying outside India are not eligible.

Stipend

• You will get a stipend of Rs. 5,000 per month.
• The total stipend for 6 months is Rs. 30,000, paid in two installments of Rs. 15,000 each.
• The first installment is paid after you complete 3 months, and the second after you complete 6 months.
• The stipend goes directly into your bank account. You must be physically present at DIBT for at least 15 working days every month to get paid.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is fully merit-based:

1. Academic Merit: Candidates are picked based on their academic record (85%+ marks or 8.5+ CGPA).
2. Intimation: Only selected students are informed about the joining steps through email. No reply is sent to rejected candidates.

How to Apply

1. Fill the application form (Annexure 'A') given in the official notification.
2. Get a recommendation letter from your college and prepare a short bio-data (under 300 words) highlighting your achievements.
3. Combine all documents into a single PDF — application form, all semester marksheets, college recommendation letter, bio-data, and undertaking form.
4. Email the PDF to the Centre Head, DIBT at centrehead.dibt@gov.in or head.hrd.dfrl@gov.in.
5. In the email subject line, clearly write: 'Application for Paid Internship - Post Code: …… [Discipline Name]'.
6. Send your application before 15 June 2026. Late or incomplete applications will be rejected.

• Submit a progress report after 3 months and a final project report after 6 months
• Attend the lab for a minimum of 15 working days every month
• Complete the project evaluation to earn the completion certificate
