The Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), a centre of the Armaments & Research Development Establishment (ARDE) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has invited applications for paid internships under Advertisement No. DIHAR/HRD/PDINTERN/2026/01. DIHAR works on high altitude trial, testing and cold-arid area technologies. This is a great chance for final-year engineering students to gain hands-on research experience at a premier defence lab. The number of positions is indicative and may change at the discretion of the institute.

• Paid Internship (B.E./B.Tech): 3 posts

Open to students of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology and Civil Engineering.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be a B.E./B.Tech student pursuing your engineering degree in the 7th or 8th semester from a recognised Indian University/Institute.
• Academic record: You need a good track record with a CGPA of 7.5 or above (or equivalent), maintained continuously in all previous semesters, from an AICTE/UGC-approved university/institute.
• No equivalent qualification will be considered.

Age Limit

• You should be below 28 years of age.

Salary

• Monthly stipend of Rs. 5,000 for the 6-month internship.
• The stipend is paid only if you are present at the lab for a minimum of 15 working days per month.
• Payment is made in two instalments — the first after 3 months and the second after completing 6 months.
• The stipend is paid directly to your bank account. No boarding or lodging expenses are provided.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam. Selection is purely on merit.

1. Merit Screening: Candidates are shortlisted based on the marks scored in previous exams.
2. Interview: An online or telephonic interview/interaction is conducted as required.

Only shortlisted students are notified about the joining procedure through the email ID given in their application.

How to Apply

1. Fill in the prescribed application format attached to the notification.
2. Get a Reference/Request letter for paid internship from your college (Principal/HOD).
3. Scan the filled application, last semester mark sheets, Aadhaar card, the college reference letter, and a brief bio-data (under 300 words).
4. Email everything to hr-dihar@gov.in.
5. Mention the subject as "Application for paid internship" along with your branch/discipline.
6. Make sure your email reaches before 5 June 2026. No hard copy is accepted.

• Internship Start Date: 1 July 2026

• Work on assigned research and project tasks at the DIHAR lab
• Support high altitude trial, testing and cold-arid area technology projects
• Stay present at the lab for at least 15 working days each month
• Prepare and submit a project report at the end of the internship
• Follow the lab guidelines and adhere to the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923
• Complete the evaluation of project work and other formalities for the completion certificate
